O.o Lots of Ramna 1/2s...That was mine too. Though, I think I started it when I was four...
I think I also tried Dragonball at that time, so it was a tie. For anime, though, it was actually D.Gray-Man. I was slow in the anime category 😀

My first shounen and manga was Naruto, too! 😀
I can't remember if my first anime was Pokemon or Dragonball, since I also watched them both in Cartoon Network at almost the same time. 🙂

It was so long ago, I can't even remember. I'm really old school--I was introduced to anime/manga through Robotech and Voltron, so would that count as my first "shounens"?
(The irony of getting into this stuff via mecha anime is that now mecha is one of the few genres I avoid like the plague. I guess it was watching too much of it during the 90s...)

I watched Dragon Ball Z on the cartoon network as a child, so that was my first shounen anime most likely.
My first shounen Manga was Yu-gi-oh, I was expecting it to be like the TV show (which was just starting out at the time) but I was pleasantly suprised by a compelling story that turned out to be WAY better than the american TV show could ever hope to be....
and to this day Yu-gi-oh is still one of my top 5 manga of all time, I own the full set including the "Gospel of Truth" character guide
My Top manga:
- Yu-Gi-Oh!
- Death Note
- Fullmetal Alchemist
- Bakuman.
- Love Hina
My first shounen was Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z
I didn't even know it was a shounen manga/anime hahaha

I hear you say "Why?" Always "Why?" You see things; and you say "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say "Why not?"

For anime it was Dragon Ball Z, at the time I didn't even know of manga.
For manga it was Naruto which my friend introduced me to, we'd play it in the school courtyard. He'd pretend to be Zabuza and I'd be Naruto. Years later when the anime came out on cartoon network I read my first chapter and a year after that I became totally addicted to manga.
An instant or an eternity. Both are the same, in the passing of an instant lies the beauty of eternity.

the first shounen that i had read was probably naruto when the first shounen jump came out I just read it randomly at the grocery store that i worked at. the first anime was either transformers or voltron
Oh man, for anime it's Dragon Ball all the way. I remember as a little guy wanting to over to my grandma's all the time because she'd let me wake up at like 5 am to watch Dragonball. I always wanted to have a tail like Goku.
For manga it's gotta be....hmm.....maybe Sandland? I never got into manga until Shonen Jump monthly was available here, bought the first issue because it had DBZ on the cover but read Sandland first.
