Mizushiro Setona. Her art now is more mainstream, but it used to look rather strange, such as in 1999 Shanghai and Shokubutsu Zukan. I actually like her old style as much as her new one.

Nishida Higashi's art is different than most mangakas', and I've grown very fond of it - it's very real and sincere, not ridiculously flowery or filled to the rafters with unreal bishounen.

HIIRO Reiichi has a distinctive style that I like, although the ukes are more feminine than I really like. It's not a preferred style, just enjoyed.

Edit: I also really like NAONO Bohra's works a lot.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. I thought Nounai Ren'ai no Susume was rather interesting in both art style and story.

I have to agree with Yamada Yugi and Mizushiro Setona, and Kunieda Saika there. They have a weird art style but there are some details that I just love there..for example that hair-lock always out of place in Seton's works ^^, the funny expressions in Yamada-sensei's mangas (tiny eyes), or those devilish eyes when someone is angry, along with the stupid kiss marks, in Kunieda's works...those details that make them different are so great ^^

I also feel this kind of love towards the art of Takaguchi Satosumi it is not pretty, but I love so much the crazy details of the background,or when you can see the chibis from their back, and that huge cheek there while they are offended/acting like kids, is really funny and made me love it even more.

You could add also Yoshinaga Fumi's art..it is certainly ugly, and I found it amusing that sometimes the clothes look really great but the faces no-no, I still love the way she harmonizes the feeling, expressions and story to make it look pretty.

Of course it may be helpful that they have really great stories (at least most of them) but those are weird and outstanding artstyles. 😁

Has no one mentioned Naono Bohra yet? 😲

I agree with
Yamada Yugi, and add:
Tori Maia
Oldschool shounen-ai and yaoi
Mishima Kazuhiko
Miyamoto Kano
Suzuki Tsuta

Not all of them are totally original, but they come to mind for being a bit alternative.

Art doesn't really that much to me as long as the story is good, unless it is really really bad. But I sometimes pick up a manga after looking at the art, if it is really nice.

My favs:
Mishima Kazuhiko
Naono Bohra

I won't say I have a defined artistic style I prefer...But I do tend to have a special liking for one or the other mangaka...

Takashima Kazusa
Last Client and Wild Rock captured my attention right away!! Her single illustrations tend to switch between typical shoujo and hybrid artstyles...

Miyamoto Kano
She draws characters very emotionally and gently...Their expressions are very capturing and deep...

Nitta Youka
I'm really sorry she quiet...I didn't see a style similar to hers...She is a very skilled mangaka...

CJ Michalski
Well, not really her art but rather her stories are entertaining XD

Hoshino Lily
Even though she is the closest to shoujo art - which I dislike - the girly way she draws uke characters is very appealing to me^^

I agreed with several mentioned like Naono Bohra, Miyamoto Kano, Nitta Youka, Kunieda Saika, Esuto Emu (I love her art) but I also like Youneda Kou (a lot of people dislike her style but I find it fascinating), Jaryuu Dokuro, Kawai Touko, Yamagata Satomi (so different and exquisit) and more recently I am in love with Takaguchi Satosumi art.

I don't like the art by FUJISAKI Kou. But for anyone who prefers "manly" looking characters, his/her works are probably the way to go, esp. if you like Rumble Rush and such. 😐

My favourite Yaoi authors are:
Kunieda Saika (author of Future lovers)
Sadahiro Mika (authore of Pathos)
Yoshinaga Fumi (author of Antique Bakery)
Takashima Kazusa (author of Wild Rock)

I love both of their art styles and their story 😀

Well, u really hurt my feeling and make me angry when u said the art of Yoghinaga Fumi sensei is ugly =.= 🤨

I never cared too much about artwork in manga
for me, it's the storyline that really matters

i mean, as long as artwork isn't downright crappy or look like American comic art, I'm fine with it

I have more perferance for manga author then artist (although for most times they go along together)

Sorry! well, every man to his tastes..I really tought it was odd at first, but now I really love it, of course that is because I am really fond of this mangaka now; it is great that you can tell right away "that's Yoshinaga Fumi's art" without a second thought, that's what I call style 😁
