New Poll - Checking Releases
I mostly use a combination of the scanlator's sites and MU. I use IRC for downloads quite a lot, but it's more often than not updated on the site first and then on the channel itself, so it's better to check there.

Well, mangaupdates sure is the main option, you list a everything here in terms of releases... Thoug there are at least 3 manga I'm obliged to use cause its easier to know about the series I'm following...
Everytime I come to mangaupdates, I end openning every title that I found interesting in new tabs, for every ten, often one or two I move to a list for further reading for a extent that this list list is enormous by now...
If you ask why I don´t use MU tool for listing manga its just cause I wouldn´t feel secure if I didn´t keep a offline register... and moving the entire list here would sure be troublesome. Maybe one of these days...
I signed for a site feed once too... but I don´t really check my mail frequently...

Yeah, that really pisses me off, too. URLs being either removed or replaced to links to rtash like facebook or twitter.

I don't really get why mangaupdates is rated so high, in terms of new release indications anyway. I mean, I read so many short ongoing mangas, I can remember a couple titles but generally to remember ALL their titles and search for every single one...no. Much easier to just check "latest updates" on reader sites. And vice versa for scanlator's sites. Now that MU doesn't have a comprehensive websites, you have to search for it, for just one chapter, and move onto another scanlator...it takes a lot of time.

....
I just frequently check the Releases page. which I have certain genres color coded. Plus if something I'm reading (it would be in my reading list) gets updated. I see a little icon next to the new chapter that just got scanlated.
For me it's easier to check here since A) I don't use online reader sites to read manga anymore. and B)Checking each scanlator's site ... seems like a lot of work.
Although ... I use the releases page more for adding new things to my wish list. Since I don't pick up ongoing series often.
Yes yes, I know I make longwinded comments, but that's just me >.<
I should proof read my comments more, but I won't...

Well, that's just as much a problem for me. Most titles don't mean anything, I need to see the pictures to jog my memory. I read a lot of mangas that go across a variety of genres. It has to be a really great or really bad manga for it to stick.

Ahhh I see what you mean about the click on each manga thing now.
The color coding does help me remember what manga is what. Yeah, I'm the same way with remembering manga titles. Unless it's in English, or something I can't wait for the next update I tend not to remember what it's called.
Then again, for me there's ... maybe 10 I'm still following for updates, everything else I put on hold until it's done.

Well, if you've read the oneshot, you can add it to one of your lists.
And when looking at the releases page, if it's a oneshot, it'll usually say "oneshot" instead a number.
But I see your point.
Hoovering over the title to see a cover/pic would be great, but it's not something I can't live without.
Maybe in the future, MU will have such a feature.
Anyways, MU is the first place I look.
Sometimes I visit the sites themselves, but MU is so reliable.
If I want to browse through yuri titles only, I go to dynasty-scans.
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

Same. +Batoto since some scanlators release there before it gets listed on MU.

Hmm...
well I use MU when I'm late and at least 4 times per 2 hours ( let alone the time I'm sleeping, cause I'm probably sleeping like dead then...now I wonder, can I browse when I'm sleeping ? Weird! )
And rest of the times I use my GUTS...believe or not...It's work like charm...Try It !
Happy Reading Fellas ! ^_

Mangaupdates of course since it's so easy to check for new releases of the manga I'm reading when I order my reading list to latest updated & unread.
As for new manga that I haven't read and therefore aren't on my reading list, I usually search on here for them or see something interesting on Batoto.

i check MU first definitely. i took such care in perfecting all of my lists, it's really easy to see which titles i read got updated. i wish there was an author wishlist capability, though, so i would be alerted when a fav mangaka of mine has something new scanlated.
sometimes i check tumblr too since i follow a lot of scanlator sites there.
