New FMA anime
New anime series of Full Metal Alchemist is confirmed.
For that matter, there's even a possibility that there'll be a sequel to Darker than Black.

FEAR THE FORCE LIGHTNING BROTHA
Personally, I hope they follow the anime one and make it so they actually go back to their world...

To be perfectly honest, I'm not very happy about this. The movie gave a pretty distinct ending, and it's so different from the manga that actually having a sequel seems forced unless they either a.) give it a new leading character, or b.) return to the point of deviation (~Hughes' death). Either way, I'm a bit worried about the quality this would actually produce, it feels like they're just milking the license.
That said, it is BONES, so it probably won't completely suck, and I'll watch it anyway just because I'm like that. And season 2 of Darker than BLACK would be amazing.
For release dates, we're probably looking at Summer or Fall 2009. Spring would probably be pushing it.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

I've watched the first anime, and got really diasappointed because it's differs from the manga. And I like the anime I watch being faithfull to the source.
And although FMA is on my "prostponed" list, I don't think that changing how the story is done on its original form will contibiute...
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

ZOMG! 😲 Talk about a long awaited sequel to mah fave anime of a-w-ll time! This is good news indeed 😀 .
I RABU Romi Paku, I hope she comes back. I cant wait her to burst out at any "chibi" references 🤣 I dint like the movie so much coz it was very realistic.

curious about this one, cause as it stands in the anime world they are stuck in the other world . If they decide to follow the manga plot I wonder how they are going to deal with this. Or are they just going to start over from some specific place.

If you're saying that based only on the manga, then you'd actually be right.
The manga... well, isn't that good. And is completely different. 😐 It's more in the Shoujo-ish direction, while the anime is Seinen-ish.
Neglecting the fact that they're both demographics, but you know what I mean...
You should really try it, since K(h)ana doesn't even appear one frame in the anime. Which I reckon is one of the reasons the manga isn't so well-liked. 😮 Plus, there's Mao (who you already know if you read the manga), Yin and Huang! A strong main cast.
Damn you, DtB manga, for giving the anime a bad name~!

Knew Lambs would be happy... he's the MU FMA poster-boy, afterall. 😀
But I share Creshinibon's reservations..... when I first heard the news, I was like "Do we really need another FMA?".... On the bright side, at least it's still a BONES production (I'd puke if GONZO were doing it)....
I'm more looking forward to Darker than Black Season 2.... can't wait for that one.

Cool, new FMA is good news. I thoroughly enjoyed the anime (haven't read the manga). I too wonder what they'll do with it. Whether it's a follow-up or a complete re-write (I actually kinda hope for the latter, not that the first series wasn't great), I'm sure it will be most interesting.
I also hope to see more Darker that Black. That was an interesting show even if it was confusing sometimes.

i hope it follows the manga one, cause the anime one is kind of lacking compared to the manga IMO. they're both good but with the way the events happen in the manga i think that makes for better storytelling.

Well, I did some checking when I first came across this news and found a story on MoonPhase that says it's an "Original Manga Version".... wonder what that means??
Omni, the dude that runs the Random Curiosity blog also said the same thing.

that could be them saying that it's going to go by the story in the manga then. if that's the case it could mean restarting the series all over again.

Edit: nevermind. I could've sworn there were two movies...
