I usually do a volume about every 30 minutes or so as well, though it does depend on the interest I have in the storyline and how deep the story is. So i guess that is about average. For book reading speed, I managed to read the first five and half of the sixth harry potter book in one day (though that was a long day), and I had read them all before. I guess with a new book I probably read about 90 pages an hour give or take. So yeah the Harry Potter day was abnormal in that I was mostly speed reading.

Quote from Crenshinibon

For manga, I think the reading speed depends on how much you look at the art more than anything else, being able to comprehend the text isn't very difficult when you have a visual medium. If it's about frequency, then I would say I probably go through about 0-3 new series a week (depending on their length, if I'm watching an anime, and how busy I am), along with the usual updates.

Ditto. A long intricate and deep plot with good artwork takes me longer as I like to take my time and really get absorbed into the story but something very light and a shallow plot I can get through a 20 page chapter in 5-10 minutes usually. I also read a lot of western novels as well as uni work, archery, aikido and 2 casual jobs so my time is limited meaning I usually average about one new series a week, though if it is a long series it can take me a fortnight to finish/catch up.

I consider myself a fast reader but I lose interests on those really long manga.

I read fast if there's a little text in it,
since I rarely see anything that I need
to stare at for 10 seconds.

Fast I guess.. English mangas.. I could read up to like 60volumes in 1 day..(Dawn to dusk not dawn to dawn)
So I tend to forget what happens in the middle sometimes.. Cause I read too fast lol.
Japanese takes me slightly longer.. Like 2volumes per day T_T.

Nope. I like to take my time and soak it all in.

Yes, my eyes scans the page super fast, I can finish 25 volume mangas in about a few hours while knowing most of the main points. But since I read so fast, I usually miss some things, so sometimes I'll reread it later again slowly when I have time so I can fully "know" the manga. Actually, sometimes I read so fast, I don't remember all the new characters that appear in it, so I'm like "what's his name again" or "who was that?", and I miss a huge block of things that happen sometimes too. Another side-effect is missing explanation for certain things, so when it comes up later, I'm completely dumbfounded.

That depends on how long the manga is.

Sometimes, I would read up to at least 10-15 minutes.

However, if the series is long, it would take me an hour or so to complete.

So, yeah, I'm kinda fast when it comes to reading mangas.

Mams pretty much gave you my answer.

Isn't he generous?

Well of course, it depends.

It depends how fat the volume is, or how long the series is as a whole.

I would assume I am a fast reader. I can read about 10 volumes of Naruto in under 2 hours.
I do however, like to go back and re-read and look at the art work and stuff 🙂

I also read a lot online. That can sometimes take forever because the pages are so slow in loading sometimes, thats why I prefer to buy manga, but there are so manga that aren't released in English so it can't be helped.

But yeah, I guess you could say I am fast 🙂

It depends, if the plot is lagging I'll sorta just get through the pages quickly

But if something awesome is happening, I'll slow down to try to take in all the detail.

Also, if the art is gorgeous, I'll go slowly
