Me, I'd just round up as much people as I can, raid the stores/nearest army base and barricade ourselves in somewhere.
Or travel to an isolated island and kill off all the zombies there [if there are any] and laugh at the zombies trying to get to us by walking straight into the water. 😎

explosives...helllo...sure they may survive...but they won't b able to run as fast...and i run a 40 yard dash in 4.5 seconds...yea ryte is a one legged zombie catching me

The Dragon Slayer Gatsu sword from berserk...thats all u need ok and maybe a sniper rifle just for kicks when ur chilling at w/e building ur living at im thinking cosco maybe a sams club depends on which is closer to a gun/outdoor store

This discussion actually comes up in my group of friends. 🤣
Automatic Rifle backed by pistol and enough ammo to fight my way to more supplies or a safe haven.
Closer second choices would be the semi-auto rifle, shotgun, sniper rifle, machine gun.
I didn't bother to read all 11 pages of comments, but I would assume most people didn't/don't consider the fact that you'll eventually end up having to fight other (living) humans. Throw in the fact that you may need to be protecting others as well. In those cases, I don't think that a melee weapon (the overwhemling most popular choice here) will do a bit of good.
And if you really think it through, for long term zombie invasions, you're gonna need to find (and clear out) a place to live that's relatively isolated from any free-roaming zombies, where you can grow/raise/catch food. Even canned food in a grocery store will expire after a year, maybe faster since can kiss electricity and other benifits of civilation goodbye too.
There's actually a lot more you need to consider than simply what weapon you want to carry.

semiautomatic rifle with 22' rimfire ammo. it's easy to find, you can carry many rounds at a time, and best of all, if you shoot a zombie in the head, the bullet bounces around in there up to seven times before coming to a stop. it rarely leaves an exit wound, which reduces the risk of being splattered with infected blood. other than that, a trench spike ( http://www.donrearic.com/images/knuckleknifefive.jpg ) for close combat, and possibly a crowbar (usefull tool/bashing device )
other than that, plexi screen for the eyes, and full canvas clothes (durable, resists bites, but still easy to move in)
but the best weapon against zombies would probably be to stay away, so i guess i would use a bike (does not use gas, you can carry it if you must, and it makes little noise)

only thing i need is to survive 'till winter, every zombie on street will freeze in one day -60 Celsius is not a joke
to back it up i have PM with enough ammo for it, and we can get some shotguns(Benelli M1 or Saiga) and AKM, AK74 or AKSU's 😀 😛 😎
Plus, i have enough armor and clothes that protect neck, hands and legs, bites won't come through, i'm packed for zombie outbreak 😎
Guess live in Russia have some pluses 🙂

An RPG of BFG, with a poo-flinging monkey for a powerhouse reinforcement, and Simon Cowell for zombie bait -.-
Melee may be fun, except for that zombie-bite part. I'd prolly turn myself to an android, then get close-up with 'em and put a chicken up their ass.
Btw, what's that second shotgun in Counterstrike? That seems better than the regular with its continuous shots.

I'm resurrecting this topic from the dead since rockstar wont do it.
anyway if you go to a Costco chances are you'd be in a middle of a huge panicky mob who all decided to go to costco for food/shelter. There'd be riots and it'd be crowded, perfect for zombies to come and own u all.

I would go to best buy and by some electronics cause i heard zombies are destroyed by cell phones 😕 or maybe that was a cartoon.
