I just recently learned of a genre of manga called smut. Sounds interesting, but I don't kow which smut titles to read. Any recommendations?

You want shoujo smut or just smut? (Although most smut is in shoujo, I think)
I'll say read Kayono's works, she's quite good. They're mostly shoujo.
Yoshihara Yuki has good smut, although it's mostly josei.
Shinjo Mayu has smut, too. Although I don't like her that much >.<

Sorry for not giving you the titles... It would take too long to list the good ones I've read 😀

Although I should warn that the people in this manga don't seem to have any values... but smut kinda implies that doesn't it?

Start with light smut, like Love Monster.
Then enjoy some Kayono's works, as Layhe recommended.
After that, I suggest Deep Kiss and Itadakimasu

Do not touch Shinjo Mayu and Minami Kanan's works, if you want to stay sane and look at boys without feeling sick.

I wouldn't say they're bad at first that is if you never read any of her mangas, but after reading a few of them, you pretty much know how her other mangas are.
However, I did enjoy Love Strip. I thought it was some what cute at the time, but then again it was one of the first manga I read from her, so I might be a little bias.
Also, I think Love Celeb is good.

Just finished reading Bet!! Didn't really think it was that bad. I've seen a lot worse.

Male-aimed "smut"? What are you talking about?
"Smut" (when used as a genre) is a term created by Western fans to categorize a trend of shoujo manga that depicts explicit sexual material that began around the early nineties. So, saying that there is male-aimed smut manga (when the word "smut" is used as a term to describe a determinate genre in manga, not as an adjective, of course) is an oxymoron.
