Better than gift cards. It can be cute if they're giving it to you in dollar coins or two dollar bills (in circulation as currency in the US, but not really common). Hahaha, yeah, the perfect gift, a bag of two dollar bills, combining both effort and usefulness, unless the person you're giving them to thinks that the bills aren't real.

It's less personal, but unless I really care for the person, being personal isn't a good thing.
So overall, it's better.
I'm happy. Because whatever I buy with it is technically their present.
Bonus if it's in that red envelope which I really like. 🤣

I always get money on my birthday...Kind of lame.
I like surprises that I used to get.

Better than something I don't like, and depends on the person. You don't like your partner to give you $ as a present, right? But it's great with grandparents & parents, most of the time they don't know what we like, and they give us much.

when i get a present... my mind automatically assumes it is more expensive than whatever amount of money they give me (which is wrong 99 percent of the time). i guess i just prefer presents since they make it seem more personalized and i feel more LOVEEDD~ somehow people still believe gift cards are personalized enough already... i prefer a red envelope.

My first thoght when I open a card and find money: What's showing in theaters right now? Anything good?
A lot of people give me money, including my closest friends, because they know I'm taking it either straight to the movie theater (which I love to do) or straight to Books-A-Million. It's WAY to much effort for anyone but me to keep track of what books I want and what I have and what I love about going to the theater is the process, more than the movie. It's not uncommon to watch the same movie multiple times in theaters. And they know that about me. So, really, them giving me money is probably even more personalized than a bath set (that I'll never use).

I like getting it but I prefer to work for my cash.
If i get it from my grandparents or something I normally get it back to them somehow, either leaving it in my grandmother's purse or leaving it somewhere else they may find it and just think it was something they replaced.
They are living on a fixed income. I ain't.

I'd feel awesome. Personally I think that money's the best present to give someone.
