Polite bump.

I'm okay. Definitely better than most nooblets. I still have a lot to learn though, and I hope I'll get better as time progresses.

Ah I pretty much know the basics.

The amount of times I've had to fix this bloody thing because it keeps on freezing is countless. I've learned many things about all the settings and stuff. I'm no pro though. Certainly not. I learn by trial and error 🤣

Built up my own computer from scratch, its my main source of fun and iv come to know quite a fair amount (The least for my age/field)

I know what to do/not to do, and I know where/how to look for desired info on a unknown subject.

I know the basics and a few tricks here and there. Otherwise, I suck. xD

This.
My dad made the computers in the house.
At least until I learned to do it myself.

Grew up with Unix... got into Slackware a little under a decade ago, had Macs back when they were actually cool, still love BSD, know a few languages, dislike Windows, currently use Debian most of the time, contribute to various open source projects, can do things I'm not supposed to do with this site.... blah-blah.

I'm no pro, though..... just happen to know stuff.

On the other hand, I pretty much suck on the hardware side of things. Sure, I can build my PC from scratch (anyone can, it's easier than Playdough) and replace most parts, but ask me to start soldering or about any form of extreme modding and I'll tell you I'm not the best person for the job. I don't play many PC games so I don't really know much about graphic cards either. I'm good with sound hardware, though.

Well, I get paid to work on computers. Mostly just hardware, and some easy fixes. But at this point its just some extra cash.

this is so ironic that i saw this topic. . . i'm taking an intro to computers class in college (needed a gimme class) even though i'm pretty good with computers. basic knowledge, plus a little more.

the irony is in the fact that my professor for my computer class is so bad! he doesn't know what all the function keys do, he doesn't know that he can advance slides by the arrow keys, and types by hunting and pecking! and that's only a little bit of it.

off topic a little, but i just wanted to share so someone else can roll their eyes with me in disbelief. 😛 🙄

I'm assuming the basics, but a good kick once in a while is totally fine with me.
