I reccommend X-Day. It's about a group of 4 people who meet up in a school chatroom, all unhappy about their lives (for varying reasons) and resolve to blow up the school. It's only two volumes long, and had a very good extra story as well (the friendship between a humanoid 'cow' and a young boy).

Basilisk - Yeah it's been mentioned but you can't recommend it enough; it's pretty touching underneath all the violence, and only 34 chaps long (if you consider that short which I do).

Alive - Seems slow but it's only 10 chaps and gets pretty intense in the final chapters.

Skyhigh - Don't really know if I can recommend this b/c there's a sequel, but oh well it's still pretty good.
