one crosses the like by reading yaoi/yuri period.
i am a guy and i hate yaoi (no duh)/yuri/hentai just dur to the fact that while we all love manga, we dont need to get off on drawings 🙁
i lied. some yuri and hentai is kinda funny but most is just...

Well, there's some truth in that, but you have to realize that most yaoi is not equivalent to hentai. Most yaoi is not particularly more sexual than, say, My Balls, which is classified as ecchi. I would guess that on average less than 25% of a yaoi manga is sex and more than 75% is dialogue, drama, comedy, etc. And shounen-ai is less than 1% sexual, if at all.

Also, I'm not sure that girls "get off" on yaoi drawings the same way guys do off yuri and hentai. I've seen a lot of girls loving yaoi because it's cute and heartwarming, or because it's dramatic and interesting, or some other reason for which people usually follow romance mangas.

At any rate, I think it's healthier to fantasize about sex than violence. We don't consider people who enjoy mangas about people killing each other deviants, but I wonder why.

How well put.

And if you say that about any type of sexual manga, how come you read manga at all?
Since by your definition, enjoying it is also crossing the line.
And don't go "no dah". There are guys who also read yaoi.

It's not that we get off on it, or read it for this puprose.
It's just fun. It's not like we go and make guys rape other guys just because we find them both cute.

And what's wrong with enjoying sex? 😐

Also, you seem to enjoy Übel Blatt, which has enough sex and torture as far as I can remember.
But I don't say it's wrong to enjoy it. I just think it's plain and boring.

And as Odette has said, it is better to think about sex than violence, which you as a shounen read probably experience more than us. 🙂

well it seems after being corrected like ten billion times, i should take back my statement
to be honest, i have no idea what the idea behind yaoi is so i should probably have not made that first comment. all the same, i think it accurately represents my opinion somewhat on when one does cross the line in yaoi/yuri in being a fan
whatever. ill stay away from such discussions in the future

I've always pictured this as "crossing the line" 😛

I'm no where close to it. The most I do is, say when my brother is playing a video game, I'll voice what the characters are 'really thinking about each other.' (My favorite is when he plays Kingdom Hearts haha. RikuxSora irks him the most).

I think a person becomes/knows they're a hardcore yaoi/yuri fan when they start fiending for the genre of their choice at a serious occasion... like a funeral.

Pastor: We walk through the valley of death...

You thinking: Valley... I swear to god that could be a euphemism for buttcrack. I wonder if the pastor's gay. My uncle seems to be giving him the eye. Maybe I can hook the two of them up?

lmfao

Another obvious sign is when you're supposed to be doing something important- i.e. schoolwork/job research- and you find yourself googling "man sex". lol

Maybe that's just me, though. XD

Really crossing the line. O__O

I don't see myself as a crazed yaoi fan in the first place. I'm really picky with mangas I read, including yaoi/shounen-ai. I've only ever read one yaoi and it was all smut, never took another look at it. I prefer shounen-ai though, even if I only read a few titles. Don't think I'll ever cross the line since I'm not even on it yet, that's a good thing I suppose... ^___^

My first post in this section, hope I didn't offend anyone. O_O

rofl For some reason I instantly thought of Swan when I read that. 🤣 And the whips, duct tape, and ropes part reminded me of Master. Bwahaha. That's a hardcore fan there!

@BaeSooky
Not all yaoi are smut.
You like chating about it? :3 I can invite you to a slightly perverted chat, where we can suggest titles for you.

🙂

Now you're getting corrupted wherever you go Monchhichi!

I don't cross the line since I'm not a fan-girl, but I do enjoy the rabidity of others. Always makes for an interesting read.

...I already crossed that line a while ago 🤣 😳

I remember someone telling me that when you reach the point that you have to erase history on your computer constantly and make all your files hidden you've crossed the line. 🤣

I suppose I dance the line. Nothing too ridiculous goes on in my head, but there are times when I cannot resist implication. Or downright connotation. Or actual cute gay couples; Different from yaoi but still adorable. Or pairing random guys together...

Okay, maybe I've crossed the line *just *a little.

I think I've found a new one...

I was driving to the movies today and looked up at a cloud in the sky. And my first thought was:

"It's an erect penis."

I burst out laughing in the car and said "I've been reading yaoi too long." This of course prompted my husband to ask what was so funny, so I told him (after I managed to stop laughing long enough to breathe...)

He agreed with me, and said: "Hey look, it even has balls."

ROFL

I'd say you're crossing the line when you are almost constantly thinking about yaoi situations, and as others have said pairing up guys in real life.
