Love Hina was easier to look at from the Harem/Romance perspective since Keitaro was old enough for serious dating. It's harder to look at Negima the same way since Negi is 10

Though recently I'd say that no longer holds true what with the age pills and Ako

Negima was ment to be a more action then romance manga so it doesn't have all of the elements Love Hina did. The mangaka wanted to do an action shounen this time so of course the romance is kept to a side story and isn't as big a role as in Love Hina.

It was ok. I read until the 3-4th volume when the scans became terrible.
And dropped it.
Didn't care for it much to contnue...

Negima has to be one of my top three favorite mangas of all time, I just wish the mangaka wouldn't keep takeing breaks every few chapters

i used to like it alot, but not much anymore the manga did go bad, but i still read it

Nope. I think Ken Akamatsu is a shallow hack.

I really like Negima I think its a littel better then Love Hina becuse the story is deaper.

And i think its really cool that Negi learn Dark Magic and wants to get stronger or that he is the pupil of an Evil mage i think that is very rare for a hero

I like Negima though the beginning is crap (too much ecchi, no story). But if you keep reading, you will realise the manga developed into an action, adventure story with lots of comedy and a little romance and great character development. Also the art has improved a lot (just compare 1st chapter with the last chapters). This could have become a great anime, if they just followed the story of the manga. (like dragonball, naruto, one piece)

To be fair... I dropped it after the first volume, so my opinion isn't entirely fair..... it's just not the type I enjoy, I guess.... too shallow/cheesy/dull/braindead.

Negima is one of my favorite mangas, I agree it didn't start well but it got really good and I can't wait for each new chapter. My only complaint is it seems every few chapters the mangaka takes a break.

Yes. I am not 11 years old, and I enjoy it. In fact many of the subjects brought up in it cannot be enjoyed unless you are older, and the plot is taking a much darker turn for the better. Still, it seems people here are confusing a lot of things. Like or dislike has nothing to do with age. Disney is enjoyable to many children and adults, so fooling yourself and saying "I am mature because I enjoy complex tomes that are difficult to read and have plots that make some wonder, wtf", is a person putting up a facade.

I like negima manga for one main reason and that is that it is epic.

Yes and no, the story was going well until Negi starts to have inferiority issues and the comparisons to him and his father is just over the top now and not many of the characters respect him. When i'm reading manga I at least want some self-respect and dignity in the character we're following in the story... is the support cast gonna baby him the whole time?
