For anime, my friend showed me Hellsing.
For manga, a different friend showed me Naruto.
Are we alive, or just breathing?

For anime it was KidsWB (ex: Pokemon) Toonami (DBZ, Sailor Moon, Zatch Bell! etc.) AdultSwim (Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, etc.) and Cartoon Network I think (Zoids unless it was on Toonami too) o.O
After watching anime I looked up anime on the net and manga came out, so anime introduced to manga. -^.^-

When I was a little kid I was always watching Pokemon, Digimon, Beyblade, Yugi-oh, Card Captors, DBZ, Sailor Moon, and Hamtaro. Near the end of elementary school, Inuyasha started being aired on my favorite TV station, then came Naruto. When Naruto aired if LOVED it, that is what got me really interested in manga/anime, it's weird... I was pretty muh addicted to Naruto and now I completely despise it. e.e

I've always watched Sailor Moon, DBZ, Hamtaro, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Pokemon, but my first legit non-dubbed anime was Fushigi Yuugi, Rurouni Kenshin, and Tenchi Muyo through VHS tapes. I stopped watching anything after those series because I didn't have any resources.
Then my ex-boyfriend from like 8th grade (yeah I know, LOL) got me watching Fullmetal Alchemist and that was when I discovered all the series you could download online.
Seven years later as a 2nd year in college, I finally started to read manga after running out of good shoujo animes to watch, haha.

My brother is 7 years older than me. When he was like 13, he skipped his breakfast and saved money for buying manga, which was unlicensed and thus super cheap at that time. By the time I was 10, I got a huge collection of manga for me to discover. 🤣

It probably started out with the video games my older brother would player, one of which was FFVI (then known as FFIII). It got me used to the idea of animation and a desire for games. Next came FF7... fantastic game (I've actually been wanting to play it for the past 2 weeks). After that I would watch digimon after school or on Saturday mornings, can't remember which one it was.
Anyways, that was the foundation... the push came from my eldest sister... she would just not leave me alone... kept pestering me about these so called great shows and awesome clips. I was really just humoring her, as she can't take a hint. The shows were suggested as follows: Witch Hunter Robin, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, and then Naruto... Naruto the Bane.
So, Final Fantasy => Pushy Sister => Naruto
That's how I got into manga.

as for me, I just happened to discover manga because of my friend who is an otome..and she loves anime so much that she's acting like one. Then I found out that these animes are based from mangas, since I love reading illustrated books I started to like reading mangas until I got addicted to it.
No ONGOING-STATUSES please.

I started about 3-4 years ago when there were a couple of anime on Cartoon Network's Adult swim. It was 1 episode per week, so I decided to check the internet to see if anything would come up. Much to my surprise, whole anime series were already up! After I watched all the anime, my curiosity still persisted and again I searched up the anime onto google. There the manga went even further than the anime did! And that's my story.

As weird as it will sound it was actulayy mu little brther 3 years my junior who got me hooked...I mean we grew up watching the stuff, Speed Racer, ThunderCats, Gatchamen(can't remember what it was called in the US), Voltron, and every time we went to Mexico I would rabidly look up Ranma 1/2 on TV, but it wasn't until the Pokemon craze erupted back in 99/00 that i got hooked and became more knowledgeable in the subject...
My first manga was MARS, but w/ manga I got into that all by my lonesome.....

When I was quite young, Dragonball was on Cartoon Network's Toonami. I was probably 8 or 9 and I loved it. A few years later, all of my friends became obsessed with Inuyasha and ostracized me because I didn't know about it. 🤣 This was when I was in the 6th grade.
After studying Inuyasha a bit, I decided to go a bit further. Then I discovered Naruto. Then Bleach. Then One Piece. And then I discovered manga shortly afterward and it just clicked.
I don't watch anime anymore though. Just not interested.
