pretty much just that: a manga with a bodyguard theme or with a bodyguard as a main character. I don't know if I can think of any examples, except maybe Until Death Do Us Part. And Kazuma and Shiranui in Kagrou Nostalgia.

It would be cool if royalty was involved. And if the bodyguard and person being guarded became, or even start out as, close friends.
