Quote from Swordfish II

I don't know if Tenjou Tenge is shounen or seinen (I've seen it classifed as both, and does seem to wander between the two categories), but, if so, Natsume Maya would definitely qualify, I would think.

Definitely Seinen. It's published in a Seinen mag and its so freakin mature that you could call some parts bordering on hentai.... Kinda...

Always nice to see my thread still alive and kicking. I just got Battle Club, which is Shiozaki Yuji's other ongoing work. The lead is kind of split between Tamako and Mokichi, and starting to see more emphasis on Tamako.

I'm actually enjoying it more than Ikkitousen, since it's more comedic and never takes itself too seriously. Unfortunately the script fell into the hands of whoever translated Ikkitousen, and has the same idiotic slang-heavy language.

Angel Heart
has a female lead. I'm not sure if it is Shounen/Seinen or Josei.

I don't think it's Shounen. So it's either Seinen or Josei. Though I think it's Seinen...

I think they are all Shounens, except for Kannagi perhaps, which may be Seinen...

Zombie Loan has a female lead, and I'm pretty sure it's shounen.

Double Arts - About a girl who has to hold a boy's hand or else she'll die. Understandably, it's interesting when they have to fight off assassins in that situation.

Hatsukoi Limited multiple female leads and some guys pop in too.

Hmm... all of the characters in Hatsukoi, male and female, feel like walking archetypes (though the guys mostly all fit under the 'perverted loser' archetype). I lost interest after the brother-complex girl's chapter. I also get the feeling it's trying to be School Rumble but fell short without a strong central cast (Kobayashi had spent a lot of time on Tenma and Harima by the time he started messing with Eri, Yakumo, or Hanai.)

By the way, I thought it was cool that Soul Eater is being made into an anime, and after watching the trailer I find myself looking forward to it slightly more more than Code Geass R2.

I can think of a lot of manga that have female lead in them, here are couple that quite wellknown i think:

  • Claymore
  • Kurohime
  • Shakugan no Shana
  • Omamori Himari
  • Emma

There are more but if you are looking for manga with female lead, i think that should do for starter. Have fun 😎 .

Good finds, but actually these go under a category I call "FFXII Syndrome". Even though the story may be about the girl, or she might be a stronger and more developed character than him you still have to have a central male lead opposite the female lead so that you don't alienate your male readers who have a hard time relating to a female protagonist.
