Quote from tokyo_homi

technically

its cuz japan sucks

thats why you should go to korea

Get over yourself.

South Korea has the second highest suicide rate, after Belarus. Japan is fifth.

Both South Korea and Japan have amazing qualities, and both have bad qualities.

It's ironic you made that statement, yet your username has Tokyo in it. Good job contradicting yourself.

You are like the dense main character in a shoujo manga.

Quote from Crenshinibon

And you will murder someone one day, pika. If you're my daughter.

i remember a news bulletin (in zimbabwe) about a boy who committed suicide because he got 6 A's and 3 B's. 🤣 (yeah, nine subjects) And if you didn't already realise...he commited suicide because he got 3 B's. took and overdose of some kind of pills (can't remember the kind) and Left a note explaining everything.
The pressure from his parents and socal background litrelly drove him to suicide. In different countries people have different standards for your average day joe. Culture is an influence i bet...

I believe in letting people do as they wish, as do I myself. Sometimes, of course, what I wish to do is kill them and they do not wish to die. This gives life interest.

woah 3 B's?

3 EFF'IN B'S? AND YOU GO OFF POPPIN YO HEAD?

Yeah, I blame culture and excessive expectations, I don't see any other reason why such high suicide rates could exist in societies as developed as Japan's, America's and UK's.

Maybe they just get more publicity cos they're in developed countries... Maybe in poor countries people are just too caught up in their lives to give a damn about suicide..

Quote from atat23

Desires and greed are endless and they are different for each person. Suppose there was a person who was born into a poor family and a person who was born into a rich family. The person who was born into the rich family already has almost everything he ever wanted, and as such he has little to fulfill and strive for in life. On the other hand, the poor person has everything to strive for, and should he succeed, he would be a much happier person than the rich person even if they eventually have the same lifestyle. There are many reasons for depression and I believe this is one of the major causes (I believe this is why poor Africans can live happily while Americans are depressed).

Quote from bleeb

[...]

I totally agree with this, because I used to contemplate suicide (almost attempted to once, but my parents stopped me) . I can't count how many times I felt frustrated toward my own failures. 🤢
Eventually I started comparing myself to the poor guys in Africa and then I didn't feel so bad anymore, because I know there are people who are way worse off than me.

Actually; I do not believe the poor person from your example would be happier than the rich person. The happiest or saddest moment you can phantom does differ per person. Also, even when you are from a rich family and you have grown up rather spoiled, the great feeling from accomplishing something on your own shouldn't be less.

What I wrote was ?inspired by my own background; getting a chronic disease on the age of 16; being forced to stop my education, and making some serious adjustments in my future expectations. What I felt most in the first year of my disease was contempt for myself - contempt for having to give up the urge to be ambitious. Living in a liberal society with a collective thought "You can reach anything if you try hard enough" can be very cruel. Even right now, 4 years later, working towards a new unambitious but realistic goal - I cant help but to feel frustrated from time to time.

I do not know your circumstances for being driven towards giving suicide a serious thought, but I do know you'd have to have some spine to go on living after seriously considering it. I respect you for that.

There are far too much suicides. I mean, okay if you're mentally unstable, I can understand. But people sometimes, give up too fast. I mean, my life isn't all that happy over daisies. Nobody's is. But you'll just have to deal with it.

Not that I can advice about something like this, I'm at a very, very low suicidal risk. That's just not in my character.
