well MangaFox has it listed under Shotacon and I too think that it can be considered as one because the main is a young boy and the story revolves around him and a girl 8 years older than him

I think time and culture have to be taken into consideration. Arranged marriages like that were common in those times. People in the old days would get married at an young age. Shotacon and lolicon are pretty much terms in ecchi/hentai/moe/smut, etc for entertainment purposes. Shotacon is sexual attraction to young boys or sex involving young boys. That manga is not about those so it doesn't qualify.

I am sure mangafox will list Blood Alone and Ikoku Meiro no Croisée as lolicon then. In my opinion, they are not. Also mangafox has a lot of mislabels for shounen, shoujo and seinen, and their basis is usually not consistent.

I used to love shotacon for a month or so than I kinda grew out of it.

It's odd, I like shotacon but I HATE little kids in real life. They drive me crazy.

I don't have a problem with shotacon or lolicon. Really what's the big deal about it? It's not like it's real child pornography. But if someone reads it a lot then moves onto real kids then yeah that is pretty messed up. I have a lot to say about the subect but to sum up my opinion on it; as long as it's not real little boys/girls I'm okay with it.

(Hopefully this thread doesn't turn into a argument about child pornography...)

to be fair i just like shotacon because at times its the lil dude dominatin older women, but ideally i would prefer none since its strange plus lolicon is just a lil on the scary side

Who said shota & loli is "beautiful"? I've come to realize that I don't like loli very much, but they're cute and to some extent I like the aesthetic. I have quite a strong boy-complex, though. Thankfully, I think I will grown out if it once I'm older, if I don't...then I will consider it weird.

Child Pornography shouldn't even be brought up when concerning loli and shota. Child porn, and even pictures of young children modeling (that are supposedly innocent), are much more disturbing than manga where children are depicted in sexual situations. I find it sick, especially with very young girls, and I wonder about the people that let it happen, if it's their parents or what. It's not something I like to see, and people that read loli and shota should not be confused with pedophiles; people that are mentally ill, treat children like they would adults concerning their mentality and sexuality. They have more than likely already molested a child, they view actual child pornography and even worse, may produce it.

You're not abusing anyone when you read loli and shota. They do not exist. They are not based on actual children or stories. Ink on paper. When you seek out and view child pornography, you are endorsing the abuse of children that actual exist/did exist. You are endorsing the pain they go through, the pain they will go through when they're older. When I read shota, I'm enjoying the art and the story, I don't obsess over it, it's no different than any other manga. Life goes on. In real child pornography, the child doesn't want it. They cry, they get seriously abused. In some manga, that can be portrayed, and I stay the hell away from it. Coming across manga that is like that is rare for me, but I don't look for it, either. I just know that in manga, children aren't raped repeatedly, physically and psychologically hurt, and aren't the source of pleasure for all the real perverts in the world.

If that is true - then just by looking at your lists - it would imply that there's a likely chance you will go on a killing spree on your school comrades (Battle Royale), or try to imitate ninja jutsu signs and try to jump from one tree to the other (Naruto).

... But you don't, right? Just because you don't understand or like it, then that doesn't mean you should find a "legitimate" excuse (AKA omg, what about the children?!! They'll go after them!!) so that you can ban/shun/abolish it.

Children? Who cares? I have no real child-complex, be it innocent or otherwise. But I believe they should be protected, because they're so young and know nothing of the world. Whereas pedophiles want to corrupt that innocence. Manga does not produce pedophiles, nor do books or any other source of entertainment. It can be caused by a number of things, getting molested as a child or just a little different in the head, but picking up a manga about loli or shota...that won't cut it for someone with urges to touch children, to rape them and corrupt them. Every day it gets worse for them, until they actually do it.

"Loli" and/or "Shota" is a genre. As is horror, tragedy, guro, yaoi, yuri, hentai, etc. It's all a glorification of something that is usually not glorified when taken out of TV, books and music. Even though it exists, law and society is there (here), whereas in entertainment, it's only there if the author wishes it be there, because isn't not real.
