The fights also went down in my opinion. Remember that Bellsprout that beat the heck out of all of Ash's pokemon until Muk took it down? That was a great fight. Oh, and I loved the one with Pikachu and that Dragonite. Lol, Pikachu practically fried Dragonite's brains.
About the pokemon themselves, I do agree that the original pokemon were the best except for a couple I like now. (Serviper is better than Ekans in character design, and Absol is kinda cool. Pichu is also pretty cute.)

I think the older ones were better mainly because of the fact that I watched the series back then, so I at least knew all the pokemon. In these newer pokemon games I have to go around catching pokemon on what their type is and sometimes appearance if there is one that looks kind of nice. I always do my best to catch all of the original pokemon and use them as my main six.
Yup. but my favorite is Pichu (:
The new ones are ugly!~ T__T

i like the original 150, but if i kept on following the series i wouldve eventually gotten bored, 150 isnt that many, so the more the better, just as long as the monster designs dont suck...
Fansubs and Scanslations are the best! But when official releases come out, support the anime industry by purchasing your favorite series! (Geneon -R.I.P, Central Media Park - get well soon, ADV Manga - you're back from the dead?!)

It was the best with 150 and has as most people have said gone down as they added more and more pokemon. It was ok with Gold and Silver there wernt to many more but with the newer ones there are just to many.
Anyway Oddish FTW!!! 😀

Personally I thought Gold and Silver were better than Red and Blue...but once Pokemon passed the 300 mark...it started to get a little ridiculous.
I do however have to say that the running shoes and other innovations they introduced in Ruby/Sapphire really made the game take on a new level. Just a new level that also happened to include TOO MANY FREAKING POKEMON.
I'm for the first 151 too...I consider yellow being my favorite of the pokemon games

I had red and blue, and i loved the rare candy glitch.. I ended up with all 150 traded between me and my friend and all lvl 100 (took a long time, but back then i was obssesed wit the game so it's ok).

Not that I watch pokémon anymore (even though I still take pride in my perfectly lvl100 trained pokémon yellow gameboy creatures 😀 ) but I must agree with you.
I also remember I gave up watching the series the moment new pokémon were introduced. All of a sudden Ash's world suddenly had like 50-100 new pokémon in it wich he had never seen or heard of in any of the previous episodes .. WTF o_O
Also my still childish heart couldn't take it that new f*cked up pokémon who looked like crap were beating the shit outta the old veteran pokémon.... Curse them !!
*PS: the candy trick didn't work in the yellow-version so I really had to train each (a total of 7) pokémon to level 100 😎 I Think you can tell that takes a lot more time then giving them candy 😀 *

Can we please not forget the pokerap? Common I'm not sure but I think that was limited to only 150 pokemon. Hell if you cant list out all the pokemon in an amusing fashion just what the hell is the point of having them?
Double dino to micro crimp!!!

The pokerap was dope, I memorized it when I was younger. Loved the English opening theme too.

Haha, I did the same, I can still remember some of the other ending songs too.
Although a couple of the newer ones are pretty cool, the fist 151 were by far the best. It seems that all they do now is draw a few circles, add some eyes and call it a pokemon, they all look rubbish in comparison Y_Y. Almost all of the first 151 were cool and well designed.
I recently bought pearl, but I just feel dwarfed by all the random pokemon that I'd never want to use. I had blue back in the day, and my sister got gold, but I didn't play it as much as the old school blue/red.

I do not think Pokemon was better back in the day just because the features in it now like online trading and battling make it so much better. I'll say that very few of the newer Pokemon past 151 were so memorable.
