I have always had a boundary line that no one can cross, so for the last 17 years of my life I never had a boyfriend. <3

My guy-friends know that I'm not interested in a relationship so they sorta look at me as a guy, who is a bit girly from time to time.
And well, I try to not get really lose to them since I know I can misinterpret being nice with something else.

But yeah, luckly my friends aren't boyfriend material, and some of them are already taken so its not a problem with me. =3 It actually relieves me a bit when they get a girlfriend. XD

I don't think there's a time limit for me. There's always the option to change my mind and put him in the "possibilities" category. All of my bfs have been my friends first and only one was immediately classified as "future bf". So, I guess there's always hope for any of my guy friends.

For me, I ask a woman that I know well if she wanted to go out somewhere as friends and see where it builds from there. If she declines, then I'll see her as just a friend from then on until she changes her mind.

If I'm close friends with the girl there is always the option. Though if she were to make the fist move I may react to it without really liking the person enough. My boundaries with people are very hard for me to detect.

It's complicated, I guess. The OP asks how long it will take before you categorize a new person as just a friend.

But what if you do start hitting off, and after a while it goes off track and circumstances don't allow you to be together... Do you then go all distance-like and just settle for "friends"? I don't know. The people I love (romantically) will always be - and stay - special. They mean more than "just friends".

They become... ehm... soul buddies! Yeah, that sounds nice. Something like that. O_O;;

So yeah, it depends on your situation?

See, I've never been out with one of my guy friends. I would say around a few weeks allows me to determine whether he'll be a close friend, or just a normal friend.

I don't think that any of them have ever considered me romantically. Or maybe they have and they're worried that it would ruin the friendship side of things if they proceed further. I get along well with them, and I recon it would be a bit awkward if we started going out.
