i've read the twilight series and loved it ~<3 (well...except the first book)
but other than that i haven't tried much...
since i felt twilight was a bit childish i tired reading adult vampire romance, (stuff written by lynsay sands) but for some reason the characters didn't seem to go well with me >.>; maybe because they were all one book each couple and didn't have as much room for character development as the Twilight series, but overally they were fun to read ^^ but honestly...i'm begining to doubt that i'd ever find a vampire romance as good as Twilight...

ohh yeah! The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause! that was also really good! I'd recommend that one as well.

Sunshine by Robin McKinley is my favorite vampire novel. It's not centered around romance, but it doesn't ignore it either. And Robin is one of my goddesses.

Ah, Mercedes Lackey's Di Tregarde has a vampire boyfriend, that may be what you're looking for. I haven't actually managed to read more than a short story in that series myself, though, so I can't say how good it is.

Sunshine was very good. I'd like to see her write more in that genre.

Society of S was short and decent but really a one time read. more borrow from the library quality rather than buy a copy.

One of my favorite vampire centered series is Necroscope. It is not all romance, but it does feature some quite a bit. It is disturbing though.

Vampire romance?

I've always though that vampire based media should be either scary, or very very cool.

Romance novels don't really fit into that category.

I'm not saying a vampire should never encounter a romantic situation, I'm just saying, it's nothing to write a whole book about. A side-point, perhaps.

Vampire stories in a general sense are getting a little too... I hate the word, but, cliché(the word is so... cliché). I can still enjoy watching bloody vampire-fightin' action, but it HAS been done to death, at this point.

I do still like vampires though... someone needs to find a new spin on the topic. Maybe the other side of the whole "vampire hunting" thing. Like, vampires nearing extinction because of humans slaying the hell out of them. The story could perhaps focus on a lone vampire struggling to survive alone( "a lone" and "alone" in one sentence? no, no, that isn't right...), perhaps encountering others of his kind now and then. Not searching for them though. That would also be... ugh. "Cliché"(there's gotta be a better word to express the idea...).

Or, I dunno, maybe that's been done before.

And I'm also sick of the whole Romania thing. I mean, there are SO many stories about vampires connected to Romania, but there are an incredible amount of historical, horrible mistakes (nothing a wikipedia search couldn't fix.) I liked the idea of survival 😛 ...and I also though up another idea, what if the vampirism vas a disease like AIDS that stops aging but the person dies in 10 years or so? And how about cutting the crap with Eastern Europe and actually finding a new location (Peru,Southern Africa, New Zealand anyone?)

I've disgressed a lot from the subject but oh well 😛

Oh, I read Dracula too, but I found it kinda boring. However Bram Stocker has an amazing style of writing that makes even boring stuff seem interesting 😀

Vampirism being a decease,then you should read PEEPS by..i forgot the author-but its really a funny story and how this decease-vampirism-its spreading like aids everytime the carrier goes to bed with somebody..=P

I can't really read a lot of books as I had a hard time finding even The vampire Lestat (I had to take it in English sigh) but I was referring to vampirism as AIDS as in a disease transmitted by bodily fluids (contact with infected blood, not just er...other bodily fluids 😛 ).
And I was thinking of something more serious but oh well..searches on the internet for said book 🙂

...Necroscope? Not even a bit of romance...it's a good read though. Some people actually believe it's more than just a book ( look what they've done with Necronomicon, sheesh...)

I second the Anita Blake series byLaurell Hamilton. But only that series...the other are sometimes labeled as "fantasy porn" 😐

Victoria Nelson's series by Tanya Huff - a story about a half-blind detective, meeting a vampire ( which is of course handsome, powerfull and god knows what else ).

There is some vampire romance in Dresden Files by Jim Butcher - but it starts in the 4 volume, as far as I remember.
