Anita Blake series by Laurel K. Hamilton. It's good. Enough said. I mean, I even saw a comic adaptation of it today at the bookshop (along with the Bible comic/manga...)

Hm...

Well, Patricia Briggs's Mercy Thompson series is very good. However, it's not strictly vampires; each novel focuses on a different race. The first book, Moon Called, is related to werewolves, the second, Blood Bound, to vampires, and the third (and most recent), Iron Kissed, to the fae.

If you aren't offended by random smut (well, it's not THAT random, but still), I'd suggest the new series by Karen Chance. So far it consists of Touch the Dark and Claimed by Shadow, and they are both quite good. This series does contain the fae and the like, but the main focus is vampires. This can be similarly said for Katie MacAlister's Even Vampires Get the Blues.

This isn't exactly a vampire novel, but if you're interested in the fae, I strongly recommend Holly Black's Tithe.

I was about to scream in offension because nobody mentioned the queen of vampire books.
ANNE RICE FTW! (my fave is the second 😛 ..and I guess everyone who read it knows why 🙂 )

Well, I was going to mention it... But I thought that this was for vampire novels with ROMANCE. Anne Rice normally doesn't deal with that much, so it seemed like mentioning her works wouldn't fit.

you know I tried reading the vampire kiss series...but it wasnt my thing.

well theres the usually suspects...you can try the Anita Blake Series by Laurel K. Hamilton, or perhaps Kim Harrison's series. These series are on the darker side

for something that is light and comical, I recommend the Undead series about Betsy the queen of vampires by MaryJanice Davidson.

also, I've heard that Charlaine Harris is good, tho I havent read any of her work yet (im getting there)

manga wise...have you tried vampire game?

Lestat and Nicki? Lestat and Gabrielle? Khayman and..Maharet...(I think...)?
There's a lot...just not in the first book 😛 .

Manga-wise my faves are Rebirth, Vampire Knight and Crimson Cross 😛 . But none of them are terribly focused on romance.

Sorry, I worded my statement badly.

I meant that Anne Rice's novels wouldn't be considered part of the "romance" genre. They do contain romance, but it's not anywhere close to being the focal point of her books. I think AnimeMusicLuv is looking for vampire novels like Twilight, where the romance is the number one priority (or at least a very close second).

And I just realized I really have to re-read the first few books of the Vampire Chronicles... I can barely remember what happened in Queen of the Damned.
