Vampire romance?

I've always though that vampire based media should be either scary, or very very cool.

Romance novels don't really fit into that category.

I'm not saying a vampire should never encounter a romantic situation, I'm just saying, it's nothing to write a whole book about. A side-point, perhaps.

Vampire stories in a general sense are getting a little too... I hate the word, but, cliché(the word is so... cliché). I can still enjoy watching bloody vampire-fightin' action, but it HAS been done to death, at this point.

I do still like vampires though... someone needs to find a new spin on the topic. Maybe the other side of the whole "vampire hunting" thing. Like, vampires nearing extinction because of humans slaying the hell out of them. The story could perhaps focus on a lone vampire struggling to survive alone( "a lone" and "alone" in one sentence? no, no, that isn't right...), perhaps encountering others of his kind now and then. Not searching for them though. That would also be... ugh. "Cliché"(there's gotta be a better word to express the idea...).

Or, I dunno, maybe that's been done before.

...

Has that been done before?

Eh, but the point of my even posting, was really just to say, I find the idea of vampire romance stories a little silly, and thus avoid them generally.

You know what is interesting, I always though of vampires as very sensual/sexual so I think there needs to be romance involved. XD

Anywho, nothing really to contribute. I like Twilight but it reads a bit (okay very much) like a fanfic :/ And Vampire Kisses was barely readable. ___ The guy wasn't terrible though, the chick annoyed me though. She messed with my perfect ideals of goths sniff XD

try the Blue Bloods series by Melissa De La Cruz, it was...interesting. Don't read any of the sequels, bah, they were pretty bubbly.

EDIT: I finally read this Vampire Kisses manga. and... I hated it. >_<

Sunshine by Robin McKinley is my favorite vampire novel. It's not centered around romance, but it doesn't ignore it either. And Robin is one of my goddesses.

Sunshine was very good. I'd like to see her write more in that genre.

Yes, I agree. I think it was one of the best she's written, and was incredibly inventive.

There's also the Broken and Industrial Magic by Kelley Armstrong... well, they're not directly about vamps, but there are some within them... plus they're good - if smutty - in general.

Prolly my favorite vamp novel too. Isn't she making a sequel for it?

I love the Twilight series. I can't wait till Breaking Dawn comes out in August. The movie is also coming out in December! I also liked the two vampire books by R.L. Stine called the Dangerous Girls. Those were pretty good as well.

I ended up reading Twilight and New Moon at the suggestion of my friend. I don't like that Edward Cullen all so much... Jacob Black is much cooler.

I'm not a HUGE vampire romance novel fanatic to be obessed but I do enjoy reading them. 😀 I kept seeing people at school with this book Twilight and it didn't spark my interest so this year I saw written on desks: I love Edward Cullen. In short I asked a friend who that was (i thought it was a country singer :haha 🙂 and they answered so lent me the first book. I was addicted. Love Twilight series! August come already!

I agree Circque Du Freak may not be focused on romance (there is a small couple but nothing to make it romance) but its a pretty good vampire series 😃

Vampires...-drools- Hehe, sorry about that. What can I say? I LOVE vampires(the good kinds, not the count dracula kinds[ew]) The Twilight series is like the bible of vampire books now, haha, just kidding. Ever since Twilight came out, there seems to have been a lot more books about vampires becoming extremely popular. And then there's the movie, and Edward, and Jake, and....-drools- ....steps back I gotta stop that.

I feel horrible. XD I just heard of Twilight 2 weeks ago (my friends' fangirlism)... Well, really Edward Cullen... Figured out it was a book 4 days ago. XD Bought book 1 & 2 the next day (the day Breaking Dawn came out, which I may add, had no idea that was the release date), and went back 2 days later to get Artemis Fowl 6 (can't believe I forgot to pick it up release day...), and just bought Eclipse & Breaking Dawn then. >_>

I HAD NO IDEA THEY WERE SO POPULAR.

FJFJJSKS

I'm normally in on the whole book scene... But I missed Twilight. I'm going to rape Edward. . I'm almost done the first book, was just reading it 15 minutes ago, took a all break. Jacob's part seems so small, does he get a larger part later on? He's so cute.

Urgh. Someone wanna enlighten me on how long this series has been popular and "mainstream" for? And any other series I'm missing? XD

Also, back on topic... There was a vampire romance (similar to Twilight with the human/vampire thing) I read 2 summers back... Read about it on a magazine, and bought the books. I enjoyed it, but I forgot the name completely... I'll get it later. x3
