The systematic gayening of manga.

I've noticed a pattern as of late with manga translations... Namely the increase in the homogenized bullshit being scanslated in lieu of decent manga, not to mention that the translation of literally gay manga is equal, if not greater than the rest of the manga on the scanslation market. For some reason, we get like 12 harem mangas translated at once, some hentai, shoujo, yaoi, shonen-ai, action adventure shonen about some character on a quest for power/to protect someone, some homoerotic shonen, some random shitty manga, and the usual suspects like Naruto, One Piece and Bleach I would at least like to see some variety, Fanken Fran, for example, is unique, grotesque, but unique. I'd also like to point out some seinin manga that could use some attention, namely Black Lagoon and Berserk, just last year people were talking about how great they were, but now because of the infrequency of release, there's no interest. Does Naruto REALLY need like 6 translating it? Can't you scanslators find another project, knowing that you're just doing the same thing everyone else is?
I'm aware this is just one person's opinion, but doesn't anyone else see a pattern? Why is the same shit getting translated again and again? When did yaoi become more popular than a decent shonen/seinin manga, hell when did it become more popular than shoujo? It's ridiculous.

Hey, we should have a ranting section! Strictly dedicated to topics that are focused on complaining and are bound to get locked!!
Not saying that this one will get locked. Of course not
But back to the subject.
The reason why manga's are becoming more, "Gay" are due to the fact that the readers that actually pay money for their mangas have "Gay" interests. So, the producers create more of whats in demand.
Money talks.

with regards to berserk and most of the seinin, its infrequency of releases by the mangaka, not the scanlators that is the problem

Well, ive also noticed the " gayening " of manga...well its not like manga its becoming lke that, thats exaggerating, id rather say that for some -mysterious- reason the scanlators of "THAT" manga genre are way more active than our loved seinen/other manga genre scanlators...
There isn't more yaoi manga ( i think ) than other genres, it's just that it's becoming more popular -on the net-, so thats why we tend to crash into them so many times ... and its giving me the creeps.
So what i want to say is ... scanlators...stop the yaoi stuff, get back to the good old times, because i'm memorizing the groups that release yaoi and filter them when i look at the releases page.
Thanks

People are paying for these yaoi scanslations? The hell? Damn 14 year old girls with money.
By the way, I'm talking EXCLUSIVELY scanslations, not actual manga series. Something within the "community's" power.

Hahaha, that's not right at all.
Make a poll and you'll be surprised

I do realize that most people who read manga are in the 13-16 age range, but even then, it was mostly guys who liked it, and so mangas with violence always seemed more prominent, and that's certainly not a measure of good manga, but it certainly has taken a complete 360 with all this homo crap. I guess the main audience doesn't have much dedication to it, as far as people who actually go so far as to learn Japanese and translate the manga. I certainly will not learn Japanese to that end.

Well, actually we don't get scanlated what we would ike, but what the scanlators want to... it has always been like that, it's only yaoi stuff is pretty well received by its specific audience and their scanlators are far more active than other groups... besides there's always the good ol' filter 0

Conquestor, I certainly see your point, but I don't really have time or wherewithal to follow through with any commitments I'd have to make to do that, nor do I have any of the necessary skills.
I'm not trying to be a dick and complain abut something that's free, but this is ridiculous compared to even 6 months ago. For some reason there has been a recent surge in gay manga, both literally and figuratively.

I turned on the filter for yaoi/shonen-ai and the manga available is still pretty gay. My point wasn't exclusive to homoerotic content.

It looks to me like the yaoi brigade is in a frenzy of looking deep and wide through the archives to pump out as much as they can. I don't think this fountain of yaoi will last forever, especially at the rate that they're going through it. With it's popularity, there will be more made compared to previous years, and that will be quickly scanlated, but there won't be the backlog for them to get through.
