When watching anime what type of quality do you prefer?

h.264 .mkv files are what I get, but only those which take up the same space as their .avi counterparts, otherwise .avi, for the ones I'm not sure of yet, I stream them online on crunchyroll
I hate crunchyroll quality, veoh is much better. I think over the years youtube has degenerated from the best video hosting site to this crap site with stupid 10minute caps on videos. I remember the good old days of utube when it wasnt so commercialized.

If high def or DVD is available I'll go for that but othewise I usually look for avi because I never have problems playing it. mkv is okay but sometimes has problems playing on my computer. I think it's a codec conflict.
When desperate enough I've been known to pick up a cam version but it gets replaced as soon as I can find a better copy.

I rarely watch anime, but I'd rather have anything that has at least .avi quality. I don't like going on streaming sites either, I feel like it totally ruins the experience of watching whatever it is you want to watch. Producers work so hard to get the right sound and lighting (okay, maybe this doesn't apply to anime much XD) in a video production, and watching it in low-quality just kills it, and is kind of an insult to their work.
If it's available I always get the Hi-res stuff, for shows like Gundam 00 and Shakugan no Shana, it looks 100 times better. I also prefer mkv format. I don't do the streaming websites, I dunno, just don't like them.

I prefer fansubs (avi) to DVDs. At least I know I'm getting the original anime with fansubs and not the butchered, censored, Americanized stuff with bad dubs the U.S. companies put out.
lol
'Cause the anime companies' primary goal is to ruin your day with crappy products, right? Those people are getting paid, so they must evil. Ignore the fact that they employ professional translators, as opposed to college students. Those so called "professionals" couldn't possibly be translating things properly, because they aren't anime fans, right? They're in it for the big-ass pay check.
I'm sorry to everyone else, but I can't tolerate such ignorant people. These days, most anime DVDs are uncensored and only americanized to the point that, y'know, you can understand what they're talking about. The official subs are almost universally at least on par with anything a fan group would put out, and I dare say, are usually actually superior. I guess they don't LOOK as fancy, but I prefer simple subtitles, anyways.
Also, there's nothing wrong with dubbing anime. Personally, I prefer dubs, especially when watching action shows. My eyes are busy concentrating on the show. I've no time for reading. Dubs these days are generally pretty good. Sure, there are still some that are, kinda abysmal, but there are also those that come out better than the original, either because it's just that great, or because the Japanese track sucks(omfg, Japanese seiyuu aren't perfect?). Of course, even if you absolutely can't accept a dub, that's still no reason not to buy the DVDs. 'Cause, usually, and by that I mean, always, they tend to have both language tracks, as well as a subtitle track or two. And I already pointed out that the official subs are more than adequate. I mean, you could argue against that fact, I guess, but you'd be wrong, so don't bother.
Some people need to look past titles like Saint Seiya and One Piece. And really, why is it that the crap gets so much more attention than the good stuff does? Well, I suppose negativity is the internet's nature.
What an unnecessary and off-topic rant...
Speaking of the topic, as far as anime I haven't paid for goes, I'm generally most content with mkv files. They're capable of integrating multiple audio and subtitle tracks, so you'll generally have as many options as you would with a DVD. Also, that way, you get a decent video quality. I mean, it's usually still not perfect, but it tends to be better than many of the smaller files, and is infinitely better than the crap floating about the streaming sites. Good god. I can't watch anime on streaming sites at all, ever. I just can't do it. It's too crappy.
Of course, the best things to have are the DVDs themselves. You get all the various audio and video tracks, high quality image, good sound, and as a bonus, whatever extra content happens to be on there. Not to mention the fact that you get something to hold in your hands, and put on your shelf, and feel all proud about.
Still, DVDs aren't cheap. I buy what I can, when I can, but I've a very limited income. Plus, it's not super-easy to find here-abouts. I generally have to order what I want from the interwebs. Tack on shipping, customs... And there's nothing on T.V., really. Well, not nothing, but a couple shows once a week, that's not so great. I can't be bothered to watch it at exact times, either. I don't even have cable in my room anymore anyways. Yeah... If I didn't download anime, I'd have no anime to watch. If I had no anime to watch, I'd have to watch something else to kill the time. And that something else would have to be, regular-ass T.V. ...

p.s. I wrote way too much. Nobody wants to read that. What a waste of time. I hate me.
I don't really care about quality. I downloaded whatever came first.

It's odd. I realize no one really wants to read my far-too-long rants, but for some reason, I do it anyways.
sigh
For the record, I don't have a problem with people who prefer fansubs, really. That's their call. I just can't stand those who so completely bash the north american companies for no logical reason.

The best for me are DVDs, but bought, not downloaded. That way I can watch anime on my big-arse TV, with surround sound, sitting comfortably wherever I want.
Otherwise, mkv are preferred, avi is the minimum. I just dislike sitting in front of my PC for extended periods of inactivity. I do it at work, and now I have to do it at home, too? Plus, I still haven't found a good set-up to where I can veg comfortably in front of my computer.
High Quality?
if available.
I don't get the poll choices?

They are just the extensions (or formats) of video files, avi as normal H.264 as better quality and so on, you must have seen an anime with an mkv extension at least
