That's also why I'm quite wary of Clamp's series. Of course, a fair amount of their stuff likely has decent to good or even brilliant endings but I can't count the amount of Clamp series which were aborted, axed, rushed, etc. 😔

Hmmm... I often drop most manga when they get axed. Yeah, I feel sad but what to do?

Arg! I have read so many manga that were axed! it's frustrating. At first I always think that I must have read wrong when it said it was the last chapter (I didn't realize that had been the end of xxxholic!) or that the magaka must have momentarily gone crazy to end it in a way where there still so many questions, but then I realize: "o... it was axed." It always come as such a surprise too- because in my opinion the manga was doing well and was very interesting, but for it to be axed it must mean that it wasn't doing very well...

I hate it when a manga that I enjoy so much gets axed/rushed -cough- Mx0 -cough-.
I particularly hate it when they either simply drop it or give it a lame ending that not only resolves nothing in the plot but also gives an indefinite conclusion that is an insult of the work.

Oh and besides poor writing, poor reception or poor sales, there are so many other reasons for an axing of a manga.

• company owes favour to someone who's much more famous or whose parents are renown mangaka/important people

• dispute between mangaka and editor or other staffs of company or there's some form of legal dispute. Or there's a complication with the contract 'cos some of the production team moved away or something.

• when the mangaka personally makes the decision to do so, just like what happened with TAKASHIMA Kazusa after [a]Kayono[a/] got away with plagiarising her titles.

• mangaka is guilty of plagiarism

• mangaka got involved in an accident and couldn't draw anymore. I recall that's what happened to the author of Alichino. She lost the ability to do a certain form of technique(unsure if she recovered from it).

Well, most of the series which get the axe deserve it, imo. But that's not always the case; xxxHoLic and Ore to Akuma no Blues were both excellent manga, and their abrupt endings were just 😔 Heaven only knows what kind of idiot(s) caused such interesting and original titles to be killed off!

I've always wondered why Burning Hell was halted; it had such a cool beginning! And Flower Flower, which was fast becoming one of my favourite GL.

It's always sad if a story ends abruptly due to the mangaka losing his/her life or the ability to draw; though imo in the latter case s/he should just get someone else to do the illustrations. But I suppose there are a lot of factors which prevent that from becoming a plausible alternative to ceasing the work altogether.

I became inactive reading Kurohime (lack of updates) and I decided to re-read it from the beginning... until I found out it was rushed/axed ending... Still can't decide if I'll re-read it
I stopped reading Mx0 because it was rushed/axed (and it was getting kinda boring around ch. 70 imo)

Agree with all the posts about Double Arts. That mangaka is one of my favorites because his oneshots and stories are always so original and I think well-developed (ESPECIALLY for oneshots, haha). I think if he could have had more time for Double Arts it could have been absolutely amazing. Too bad that was the only work he has (to date) that actually looked like it was gonna be a series...

Inoue never made any attempt at keeping his influences a secret (had he done so would we even had known of this? ) nor did he trace the pictures. While some of these pictures can certainly be considered plagiarism, the fact that the characters and art are different from the original makes for a very hard case and frankly the majority of these side-by-sides are pretty far fetched to even be considered copies from these pictures. Which leaves a handful of drawings in a manga spanning 31 volumes.

Also even with the copied images don't think this means Inoue was being lazy or anything. I've seen plenty of artists just look at a pose or situation and feel the need to make something similar within their own setting. Oh and what did the Slam Dunk ending have to do with something that only came to notice in 2005?
