If the past is any indicator, maybe this chapter foreshadows Naruto and Sakura? (although Sakura looks better with short hair, IMO)...remember how Tsunade said the young Kushina was quite the tomboy, but grew up to be beautiful. Presently, Sakura's a real cutie, but don't let her punch you--she'll knock you into next Tuesday

I actually think that Jiraiya won't die, that he won't fail. Come on, you know he can't. It doesn't make any literary sense. After all, what example will he be to Naruto if their nindo fails? At least he won't die in a fight. Maybe after Naruto gets the information back at Konoha.

And Naruto x Sakura? I don't think so. Or maybe I just don't want it. But Naruto can't have the same fate as Minato. That'll just be an endless cycle!

here is my theory on the jiraya issue. There needs to be some event that leads Naruto to snap into the 9 tail mode in the end. The only things I can think that would cause that would be something happening to Sasuke or Sakura or Jiraya. I believe Pain is going to use Jiraya's body against naruto in the end to cause the final 9 tails transformation. Just my guess at whats going to happen but seriously, I hope Jiraya doesn't buy the farm here, Tsunade doesn't need to lose another loved one again.

My only problem with Naruto going nine-tailed is that he has no control over his power. And the whole tactic that they're going for now is control with his own human chakra, which is very powerful as is. Naruto would be fighting as a rampaging demon, not as the human that wants to protect and save his loved ones.

Did someone in that Naruto world not want Naruto to know who his parents were and who his godfather is? For baseball fans, it's like not acknowledging the lineage of barry bonds, whose dad is bobby bonds and godfather is frickin Willie Mays. If Naruto is the one to bring down Pein (which the prophecy says he should), I don't see it happening even with 4 tails, which we know Jiraiya and Oro both managed to beat. Either it's new jutsu time for Naruto (again) or we see 5+ tails.

On a side note: anyone think kushina looks a lot like Anemone from Eureka 7 anime?

it has been the best chapter in the akatsuki arc in my opinion.
For things some people said, i doubt naruto will keep on relying on kyuubi´s chakra and adding tails to his transformations, come on, if he adds a fifth tail he will be no more than a plump of flesh. He isn´t the yondaime´s son for nothing, and he will be entrusted with jiraiya´s will (the method of kyuubi´s seal).
