I suppose I become "addicted" any time I start reading a manga that all ready has like 4+ volumes out. I read it and that's pretty much all I think about until I've caught up with the scanslations. Of course I have to really enjoy the manga for it to really get like that.
These were particularly notable "addictions":
Claymore
Gunslinger Girl
Kurohime
Superior
Gantz
Aiki
Highschool of the Dead
Hellsing
Shin Angyo Onshi
As for anime, it's mostly the same. Whenever I start a new series with all or near all the episodes in front of me, I become addicted. It happened with Code Geass season 1, Mai-HiME, Black Lagoon, Tenjou Tenge (strangely, after switching over to the manga after the inconclusive ending I never became too addicted to that, despite the huge number of volumes to read), and a bunch of other shows. I don't become addicted to anything if I just watch it weekly as it comes out.

Manga has taken over my world....I don't really stay up all night...not anymore, since I have school. But it did happen when I had nothing to do over one summer break. I checked out like the first 20 volumes of Inuyasha from the library and I whizzed through them at the the speed of light. I just kept wanting more...this is very common with me in fact. I can never control myself, even when it comes to sweet things (still, I am not fat because my metabolism is still running strong). I never felt more connected to people than I do to everyone else who shares this problem. I love you all! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I seriously hope I don't become addicted to drugs....this is only manga after all, a somewhat powerful substance. Drugs are much more dangerous.

I was addicted to Berserk until I caught up to the recent releases.
Gantz was pretty addicting as well.
I wonder why Seinen is so addicting?

the mangas that did it for me were Berserk and (for some reason) Blame! The funny thing with Blame is its so hard to work out whats going in but the art is so incredible not to mention the story (once youve read it a second time to work out whats going on)
it also happened to me watching Code Geass and reading Twilight
(yes im a guy who has read Twilight, i read books, its what i do. now leave me alone 😢 )

Well, I usually get addicted to whatever series I am reading (or watching in the case of anime). There's empathy I guess, I sympathize with the characters and get emotional (under the surface of course) 😀

The recent addictions I had, which I can still remember are...
Moyashimon(I hope they make a second season), Shion no ou, after finishing Shion no ou I felt as if I needed to reread Hikaru no go for the third or fourth time, Sket Dance, Glass Mask manga, Shin Angyo Onshi, Rebirth(this one really grew on me), Vinland Saga, Kannagi, Mirai Nikki, Kurenai, Nogizaka, Code Geass and many more I can't seem to remember. My first anime addiction which got me into this whole genre in the first place was Full Metal Alchemist. I'll admit that I loved Dragonball first but I had watched Dragonball when I was really young and never followed up on that love of anime until far later when a friend introduced me to FMA. After FMA I started to delve more into this world and found my first manga addiction, Ichigo 100%. I've tried rereading ichigo 100% but found it to be tepid, I guess my tastes must have matured. Alright, I think I've written too much. 🤢

I get obsessed with things deeply and way too easily - for about a month at a time. And no matter how obsessed I get on something, I never bother to spend any money on it if I don't really need to - except for ARIA. I have no idea how much money I spent on this series and I really don't want to know, but let's just say I currently have every version of tankoubon for every volume in both English and Japanese, the official DVDs in both English and Japanese, and every piece of random merchandise I could get my hands on. I don't only have all of the soundtracks - I also have the official cosplay, jewelery, figures, bags, plushies, calendars... even the pencil board.
BUT I NEVER GOT THE DOLLHOUSE SET. sob
As for non-monetarily-judged obsessions, there are many. I still absolutely adore every one of them, but there's nothing like the few weeks of possession and obsessiveness that happens when I first find a fantastic new series. In chronological order, not counting ARIA, series I was obsessed with for a while are Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou (life-changing), Cowboy Bebop, Mushishi, and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. My current is Mononoke, which is too awesome for me to give up for a while.
