So I guess MU is getting into the political game. 🤣

Our party name shall be "Spammers" 😃

I was right. 🤣

I donno what I am? I kinda Anti-politics. I don't vote. Not even for school club officers. 😔
Maybe Democratic-Repubilcans? That's as far as I'd go.

That post kind of inspired me actually.. 🤣

I don't get why some don't vote in America.. Here, in Belgium, everyone has to vote from age 18..

I think I read about this. It's because most people are lazy or the vote place is too far and some don't know that it comes in different languages.

I don't identify with the democrats or the repuclicans, nor with one of the 5 german partys, but I guess I'll vote democrat on the poll because it comes the closest.

Here a quick sum up:
-i am anti privatization ( education, water, public transportation, food quality controll.. ) on most things,
-against almost all censorship,
-strongly support the seperation of goverment and church,
-very suspicious of foreign trade and war policys,
-dislike the Nato, love the UNO allthough its flawed,
-pro choice on Abortion and Suicide and a
-very big opponent to all Nationalistic/Patriotic movements.

My politcal Dream for the USA is an end to the two party system, or Nader becoming President.

-As far as privatization goes, does it matter if a private industry is running any of these programs as long as they are cheaper and better maintained? as far as i'm concerned the government can't do very many things correctly because there is very little oversight.
-i agree with your position on censorship but i will take it a step further and say that the government has no right to censor media because it is limiting free speech

  • no where in the constitution does it say "separation of church and state." It was a 1947 court case that first enumerated the phrase into current policy. However, the constitution says that "no law shall be made with respects to religion...or prohibiting free practice thereof." If a law is made banning religions practice in any way shape or form, is that not a law made with respect to religion? Furthermore, in today's political arena, only Christianity and Judaism are under fire. What about Islam, Taoism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Atheism(yes atheism is a religion, though not formally established.) Remember Congress shall make no law....
-Agree on that. Higher tariffs to bolster American industry(which has been severely inhibited due to outsourcing), and a non-interventionist approach are the best. The only place i could seriously see a justified military action would be to stop genocide, like what is happening in Darfur.
-The UN is more corrupt than OPEC
    -Agreed
  • If you don't like the US, Thats fine. Just remember that there are 500,000 Americans who are willing to die for your lack of patriotism. However, I personally would die for your right to not like our country. My only advice is hate the government and not the ideal that is The United States.

In conclusion, The two party system is broken because neither side is truly independent because they are controlled by industry. The most likely winner in every political arena is the one with the most money and not the best leader or the most intelligent. People care more about personality than substance. Education and critical thinking are the crucial linchpins to a successful society.

Well, in Belgium, you have to vote.. So I didn't consider that option.. Since you can't be 'indifferent' here..

Ouch. I do hope I'm misunderstanding something. You can't force people to go to elections.

How do they enforce that, and what are the penalties if you don't vote? Never heard of mandatory voting before... 😕

At least in Brasil if you don't have the voting voucher from the last election you can't enter contests for public jobs, some private companies also requires it and reservist certificade is required for anything related to getting a job, every male Brasilian is a reservist, but you choose to serve or not.

Yes, you are misunderstanding something.. It isn't forcing.. 🙄 It's just like paying your taxes, or you have to keep going to school 'till your 18.. You can't judge something you have no knowledge of.. Besides, Belgium is a VERY SMALL country.. so you never have to drive far to vote..

My parents just have to walk 50 steps or something, and they're there.. 🤣

And I find this system better than 'not voting'.. It's like you don't care about politics, but then when taxes go up or something, you complain..

P.S.: What country are you from, so that I know what I'm comparing with..

@Tofuqueen: They don't enforce it, it's just a common rule.. Just like paying your taxes.. You get a fine, if you don't vote.. That just shows that every vote counts..

My political Standpoints i wrote are not specific to the USA, but rules i apply to any goverment.

-to censorship: I do support some censorship. For example, i think it is good that denying the holocaust ist a legal offence in germany.
-to prvitazation: A company always functions to make money, this is fine with most things, but i prefer more expensive less efficiant goverment paid officials to control key things. They aren't dependent on the profits for their job. I know its not the cheapest way to run things but i still prefer it that way.

Hm. Well, in the US if you don't pay your taxes, you can get a LOT more than a fine, and if you get away with just a fine, it's usually a pretty darn big one.

When you do vote here, you don't get a receipt or anything, just a little sticker that says "I voted!", if you want it.

I also don't understand why so many people don't vote here. 😔

If it wasn't mandatory here I wouldn't vote. For a very long time there hasn't been anyone worth voting for...

Not really true i would say.

And i think its a myth that Belgium has mandatory voting. That would probably even meen exclusion from the EU. I wouldn't believe that without anything to back it up.

Well, I at least have been said by dozens that you must vote at 18, for the political party you prefer.. sigh I'll search it up.. >_> 🤣

Germany doesn't have it.. So you don't have to vote, I see.. 😃

Edit: I looked it up.. Apparantly it's called Compulsory Voting

I heard that in England they got nearly anything privatizaded and look how well they are doing.
I believe it is best to the goverment to privatizate some stuff so they can require a nicely done job from those companies which will train their funcionaries for such. Where I live public companies like for instance post service, they can not lose their jobs for being public contracters and they not allways do a nice job, but the energy company is privatizaded so the govermend demands everything to work perfectly and the company does it, much better than the post office. This might only happen in a third world country like mine, but the universal truth is: a good job means more money and less inconvenience.

wow, i stand korrected, Thats pretty amazing

I am truely sorry for doubting you Mr. Dr. Love

@tps2

Are you basing your theory on the fact that you heard that in England almost everything is privatized? And you think england is doing well because of that?
Thats awfully thin evidence.
I could just as easy pull out a counter example, for example the energy black outs in California in the last years due to the Privat energy companies that didn't put money into maintaiing the system so it wouldn't cut their profits.
Finland has the best results in student studies and has completely state run schools.
It is easy to pull one example and say thats why its good.
