Basically I'm looking for a painful-unrequited-love themed shoujo manga. A good example would be heroine shikkaku. It would be good if it's not stereotypical like if the female lead is so pretty yet the girlfriend of the male lead is "not so attractive". Something like that. Thanks in advance. 🤣

Anything by Nakahara Aya. Start with Lovely Complex or Hanada probably. Monkey High has a somewhat unattractive lead. I guess Koukou Debut or Kimi ni Todoke. I found the protagonist of Beauty Pop to be very refreshing. Otomen and Hiyokoi are cute. Oh and Kokoro Botan. Kuragehime too

Yup, anything by Nakahara Aya. Also try Obata Yuuki. I've bet you've already read Bokura Ga Ita but her other works deal with unrequited love (most of them end happily though) too. She's amazing with the bittersweet execution. You should definitely read Suki Kirai Suki and Sumire Wa Blue. Of course, there's Strobe Edge, Senpai to Kanojo, uhh, what else? Yumemiru Taiyou, works by Ikuemi Ryou like Cousin and I Love Her, also Oishii Kankei, Parfait Tic, Ouran High School Host Club, also maybe Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. There are a lot, honestly. I know there's already a thread about unrequited love somewhere and I know there's a category for that too. You should check that out. Yeah, I'm also interested in the unusual type of unrequited love just like Hatori's. I'll be sure to check this thread later for others' suggestions.
