It's a cliche I know but it's one that I like. Ever see the movie She's All That? I'm looking for a similar plot in a manga, (10 Things I Hate About You works as well) Guy starts dating a girl because he lost a bet, or wants to win one (in She's All That he bets that he can make the nerdy artsy outcast into the prom queen(or something like that) In 10 Things I Hate About You, it's not a bet but he does get paid to that the girl out because another guy wants to date her sister. Their father has a rule where the younger daughter can't date unless the other one does and the older one has sworn off dating)

I know it's your typical teen movie plot line, but what can I say,I enjoy them 😀 One thing I'd like to avoid however is a starry-eyes female lead, the male lead approaches her due to the bet but I don't want her to be the type that falls all over herself because the cute popular boy is asking her out. What the two movies above had in common were strong female leads who weren;t suckered in by a pretty face and were somewhat wary of why the male lead had an interest in them however they eventually let their guard down and fell for him, only to have it crash around them when they learned the truth (ie the bet that was the cause of their whole romance).

So plot in a nut shell that I'd like to find. Popular or somewhat infamous guy (ie he can be the typical bad guy, those are always fun) approaches social misfit (marches to the beat of her own drum, non-conformist type) due to the loss of a bet or wanting to win one, hilarity ensues. Or something along those lines 😀

Wow...I've read so many shoujos with this plot line, yet I can't think of one title at the top of my head. TT___TT

I'll suggest Tongari Root. Can't say for sure how strong willed the female lead was, I can't remember much of this story. Sorry. O_O

Anyway, also interested in this topic. I'm trying to find a shoujo that I once read that followed this plot line. But I really liked it. XDD Maybe someone else will remember and suggest it here. O_~

I've read Lovely Complex, actually (thanks though 😀 ) I don't recall a bet... but that might be because I watched the anime and then read only the manga that continued after it ^__^

After School Kiss is the only one that came to mind immediately.

I'm trying to remember if there was a dare/bet involved at the beginning of Uwasa no Midori-kun!! (smut) that started off the story, but I don't remember off the top of my head.

It's in the first volume, maybe even first 2 chapters, but it's a bet over which of them can get someone else first.

Bet!! is the only thing I can think, for now. xD
