In case you're unfamiliar with the term, this is the name for the homosexual relationship between an older male and a teenage male. The former is usually used to describe the Ancient Greek love while the latter was the term used for the Japanese.

I was wondering if there are any manga that might have a historical or historical-like fantasy setting that depicts this? Maybe one that even deals with samurai and shudo? As I said, it was quite popular in Japan until the 19th Century or so. I particularly liked the idea of a kabuki actor posing as a female in the relationship but that's not really all that important.

Well, that's a unusual setting. There's one story in One Thousand and One Nights about Socrates and Alcibiades, but I don't know if it fits what you are looking for, because Socrates looks a bit young too...
About Heian Era, you could try Ouchou Haru no Yoi no Romance, but again I don't know if really fits. For Taisho Era, Amasakaru. Edo Period, second chapter of Hoshigari na Kimi to Futsutsuka na Boku.
Marginal? But it's a futuristic setting, but it's Hagio Moto, so = quality.
If you want samurai yaoi, I can recommend some titles and then you pick you the ones you like. You could try Utsushimi no Hana, Mede Shireru Yoru no Junjou, Tsuki wa Yamiyo ni Kakuru ga Gotoku, Hi Izuru Tokoro no Tenshi, Mada Koi Towa Shirazu ni (I don't like her art style tho) and some other mangas by the same mangaka.

No, it is fully completed at 5 volumes, but the scanlation group that was doing it is inactive. Maybe someone else will pick it up, or the group will come alive again and finish it. ^.^

Well that sucks. I don't want to start it and not be able to finish... The suspense would kill me.

I want this series finished being translated and I want to try and take it on myself. Well, not myself per se, but I'm willing to buy the raw off Amazon.co.jp and then look for a scanlation group. I'd even be willing to pay some cash if that was a good incentive.

But I'm worried about customs. If there's any explicit sex in this thing then i'm not going to risk it as that is a big no-no here in the US. Because, you know, nonexistent children having sex is the greatest threat to our wholesome society.

Nope it doesn't. Being honest I don't even remember much BL going on. Sure they show affection for each other and stuff but as far as I remember it was really REALLY R-E-A-L-L-Y light. Like not even kissing level. So yeah, rest assured. I read it a long time ago though, so I might be wrong. And I wasn't even into BL at the time, just read it for the plot and it was worth it.

I guess I'll need to buy a scanner too though as I gotta scan them myself. Oh well, I don't think it will cost that much. But I guess I do want them to be high quality... Oh well, I'll figure it out.
