I'm looking for a manga where the main character chooses not to interact with people. A sort of shelled up antisocial character thats closed themselves off from society and socializing. The character can be either male or female, but I'd like it if the story involved a character whos either a friend or potential love interest asserting themselves into the main characters world/life and forcefully dragging them out of their shell.

Cat street fits a bit and could be used as an example, but I'd rather the main character not be an angry type.

These are probably obvious but Perfect Girl Evolution, H2O and Kimi ni Todoke has that (though with Kimi ni Todoke it's not that she's antisocial, but people don't want to interact with her cos they think she's scary.)

I second Perfect Girl Evolution (also known as The Wallflower in anime).

I would suggest Saiyuki (because Sanzo is rather like that), but you said not angry, and Sanzo just can't do "not angry". =)
