Greater Meaning

I'm looking for a series that will give me something to think about. Or it challenges moral and ethical values. This'll probably fall into the psychological category but it's not a must have, although obviously preferred. I don't want anything stupid unless it's meant to make me laugh (comedy). Drama will be preferred but not really needed. Cliches are depending on the situation but usually not preferred, don't want anything predictable. Shoujo, Seinen, Shonen, Josei, Yaoi, Yuri, whatever...
Nothing like Death Note with some mad scientist sitting his ass all day. I want a little..action..and that doesn't necessarily mean fighting action but they have to move to somewhere other than a police station or a convenience store. I don't want to be bored alongside all the deep stuff, basically an interesting story line that'll get me excited to read the next chapter with meaning in it. Romance is good too...And don't be scared to mention a mecha because I love them. 😎
Edit: I need good art!!!

Freesia
Believers
Japan Tengu Party Illustrated
Bokurano
There isn't any action in it but if you want something to think about then read The Town of Evening Calm; The Country of Cherry Blossoms

Evangelion and Gunslinger Girl are both good options.
Bokurano is a great one, but be warned that it is severely depressing for most.
Black & White is also very, very good. Some don't like the art style, although I fail to understand that.
Dragon Head deals with the psychology of fear in a pretty interesting way.
Urasawa Naoki's psych. stuff deserves an auto-mention as well, but Monster is probably the best of the crop for this, although I like 20 Seiki Shounen the most.
Nijigahara Holograph is more or less the automatic victor in these sort of things, but not all that much action. Layers upon layers of symbolism too, not really something you can fully get on the first read. This is more of a thinking piece than an entertainment piece, although I certainly enjoy it very much.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

It was a while since I read it, so it might not be as life changing as I remember it but Jiraishin should fit ok... Iida is just too cool 😛
