As of now, yes. I haven't lived enough. But maybe after I've done just about everything I want to do,I won't be. I read in my friend's psychology textbook that older people are less afraid of death, even though it's practically immiment for them, than younger people.

the way i see it, all those different religions with their different afterlife promises, are just some weak stories for people who are afraid of dying and need something to hold on to.

I agree. I believe that since the beginning of civilized people, people have been making religions to try to lessen the fear of everyone's inevitable death. It's great to have a religion, and im not trying to prove anyones religion wrong, but religion to me is fake.

As to whether or not I'm afraid of dying, yah I am. I'm sure at one point of time, everyone will be afraid of death and the thought of whether or not there is actually an afterlife(unless your a huge religious fanatic). The reason is, is because right now, there is no proof to an afterlife and I'm sure it scares many people to just be erased from existence.

To not be afraid of death is to not have anything you cherish when you are alive. Only those that have nothing they love and/or have nothing to lose have no fear of death. I could be wrong, but that I believe.

I would have to disagree with you there. I think that people can be not afraid of death not because they don't like living, but because there is no way to avoid death and worrying about it won't change anything.

As for whether I personally am afraid of death, I don't actually know.

Being afraid of something does not mean you are always thinking about it or worry. I do not want to die, however I do accept the fact that one day it will happen and I can not nor do I think I want to prevent it.

As I type this, maybe is more of a not wanting to die than being afraid of it. That is a valid point.

Living gives you an understanding of the value of what surround us. The older we get, the more we come to understand and appreciate living and do not want to leave it behind, especially if we do not know where we are going.

There is always the mystery of what happen after we are no longer "living". The transition of energy is a fascinating puzzle that ironically only the death knows for sure. Do I want to know? Yeah!! But the price right now is a little too steep. I want to wait until it goes on sale.

hmm.. no, I don't think I am. It's a part of life.. you're born into this world and then you live and eventually you die. I don't see why I should worry if death is going to come anyways. Although I'm sure there's some part of me that wants to prevent it. I don't want to leave behind loved ones or not finish whatever I started. I want to live out my life a bit but who's to say when you're too old or too young to die?

I don't know what's going to happen when I die. Do I just.. "cease to exist" or is there some afterlife? ahh it's just very confusing. I just hope that when I die I get answers to all the questions that no one has been able to answer me.

Generally the closer you come to death, the more you start to fear it...

There is many stories about people who risk their lives or die for the sake of others but I personally it likely that they would feel fear too. That is unless they are on some kind of drug that counters the chemicals released to your brain which induce fear.

"Fear is an emotional response to impending danger that is tied to anxiety. Fear is a survival mechanism, and usually occurs in response to a specific negative stimulus."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear_of_death

This is a good topic however, as they say some people really do come to terms with death at their final moments and accept it.

I'm not really scared of death because I'm satisfied with the way I've lived my life so far, I've never hurt anyone in a major way, I loved my friends and family the way I knew how, I made decisions that we moral and just... so I won't have any regrets even if I die right now.

Frankly, I'm more scared of walking down a not-so-well-lit street in the middle of the night. So I guess I'm more scared of HOW i'll die rather than the death itself.

There's no reason to be afraid of death. Instead, I am curious about death, and want to die purely to see what it's like.

Don't be suicidal!

Anyways, about the comment about older people earlier, I once skimmed a psychology book and found that they are less afraid of death than younger people - they are probably more religious because they have more time to ponder morals and more desire to as they prepare to die.

Or maybe they've had time to accept that they aren't invincible.
