Well, I can't remember having that sort of problem. But I read Mahou Sensei Negima in my mother language and since some volumes take a lot longer till they appear in my country, I sometimes reread the previous volume. I don't know - is it common that the final volume takes extra long to come out?
Some series are slower than others but I think there isn't that much of a "publishing time" difference between the last and the second to last volume... err I forgot what I wanted to say. x-x

Hm... I usually only read things after they've finished.. But there are notable exceptions..

Any who.. It depends.. Earlier on when I wasn't doing as much and reading as many on-going things I'd remember perfectly where I left off despite several months before I get the next volume and/or end. Lately I've been rereading the previous volume and at least the previous few chapters to get a sense of what was happening before hand..

I put off rereading the entire series until later.. Usually approximately 3-5 months.
There have been exceptions of course, where I reread it from beginning to end before reading the end, but that's quite rare.

i chose start over cause that's what I'd do, but not because i forgot what happened. I can re-read a series multiple times for the enjoyment of it(and because I have a hard time finding quality stuff to read that i haven't already read these days.).

whenever a new chapter comes out for a weekly i'll read the last 5-10 chapters just to pass my free time. 😛 if the manga isn't that long i'll just re-read it all again neway. i.e. until orange marmalade hit 30 chapters i would re-read it all every week so i've read it around 25ish times(i missed some weeks here and there when i was busy)

I'm gonna go for reading it there and then. If I'm reading it and things are a little blurry and I'm getting confused, I will then proceed to re-read the previous volume, or more likely the previous chapter of the previous volume.
Anticipation gets the better of me XD

Read it. If my memory's a little hazy then I'll re-read the earlier volumes or google the summary. I'd hate having to start over again.

Not that I don't want to know how a series ends, but I just find myself not returning to it once enough time has passed between releases.

I'm probably in between reading the previous volume over just to get the full grasp of what's happening and waiting until the whole series is finished, of course, certain situations dictate that.

If it's a series that I've been collecting and enjoying for the past couple years or so, I'd probably buy / order the final volume, but, in anticipation, I'll most likely read the past volume or two just to refresh and get as much of a grasp and feel for the story as I possibly can. But, if there's some sort of prolonged delay in producing the series in question, through various reasons, I'll most likely wind up losing my patience and just quit or put it on hiatus.

I wish that there is a "I won't read" option on this poll tbh, because it's kind of inevitable, depending on the popularity of a series, that spoilage is going to creep up somewhere, especially on the interwebs. Also, there's the issue of a random series' print run. Some series have notoriously fast print runs (i.e. a few months), so they go out of print really quickly, so they become super rare to acquire, and most of the titles involved are sold at over-inflated prices, probably too much of a risk for a person like me, who thinks a said series is marginal in its quality. There are also random volumes (i.e. vol. 2 or vol. 7) of a particular series that goes out of print, but the rest of the series is still in print and readily available (my last sentence applies to this point as well).

hmm... i used to read it from the last volume.
Except when the last release of the series was one-year ago, that i might forget the story, then i need to read it from previous volume.

it really just depends on the series and how well I kept up with it...

Before i didn't have this kind of problem, but now, especially when i have to wait months and in some cases 1 year to read a new volume, then obviously i read it and start over again. But i only do this if the manga is truly satisfying. I'm surprised i still haven't learned my lesson yet: read only finished manga. I guess i'm a very impatient kind of guy.

If I knew the volume was coming out, I'd have re-read the series before it was out to refresh myself, so option 1. But if it was something sudden then I'd re-read the whole series before starting it.
