What really is tomato milk? Does it exist in reality? Or is it solely a creation of Ken akamatsu's crazy imagination? Okay I know that in manga you see that japan has all these wierd kinds of bread in the school cafeterias and all sorts of milk. But tomato milk? BTW this was from mahou sensei negima. I have heard of peanut punch, chocolate milk, strawberry, berry, wildberry, banana and even some more obscure fruit milks but tomato milk? How can you mix those two things? Also in Kekkaishi, yoshimori's favourite thing is coffee milk- Isn't this just cafe o lait or milk with coffee. Or is it because it doesn't have caffeine and is only coffee flavoured? Also You can post any other wierd foods and drinks you have encountered in manga here. 🙂

Well, I usually have fruit juice mixed with milk. So I guess tomato milk is okay 🙂
There's a lot of weird food from Cooking Master Boy at the last chapter they have a big golden fried rice ball 😕 or even some weird poisonous combination food like horse porridge 🤢 there's even more weirder from the series 🙂
now that's a weird food manga 🤣

Basically ramen is a noodle dish that is served in a broth. It was imported from china to Japan. It's major difference from native japanese soups is that it's broth is based from meat. like beef broth. Also the toppings differ and the noodles used often differ as well 🙂 Read more here:Ramen

Miso soup is a japanese soup. You can find recipes here:Miso@about

😛 Say thanks.

They sell both instant ramen and instant miso soup in most asian super markets...they're pretty good but if you really want good ramen and miso soup you need to go to a restaurant or find someone who knows how to cook very well.

That is instant ramen. Ramen is like what naruto eats at ichiraku's ramen shop(obviously). Instant ramen is great but i've had the real one and it's much better. To make miso you need a lot of stuff you won't find in the average supermarket so it might be best to find a good restaurant and stick with it. 😛

Making your own miso would be...an adventure.... 🤣

However, miso is pretty widely sold, so you can buy the miso and then make your own soup. Verrry tasty. 😀

I've never tried making miso, no. The miso in my fridge lists "fermented rice & soybeans" along with salt & some other stuff (I'm at work right now so I can't check it 😛 ). Anything involving fermentation can end up pretty disgusting if you don't do it just right, from what I hear, so I'll stick to buying my miso pre-made.

Miso soup, yeah. Here's my recipe: Put water in saucepan. Heat. Add sliced raw carrots. Cook until carrots are tender. Add miso & stir until it's dissolved. Remove from heat. Add frozen peas (cooks the peas as it cools the soup, yes I'm lazy!!). Add a little soy sauce & sake. Enjoy~

I don't wanna be a downer but this has nothing to do with the original thread topic or my original post. Which was about WIERD foods in manga like "tomato milk". So what WIERD foods/drinks have you noticed? 😛

Ah...sorry about that. 😳

"Weird" all depends on what you're used to.

Takoyaki (a piece of octopus meat wrapped in some kind of dough and grilled...I think...) shows up in manga/anime fairly often but still seems pretty weird to me.

Desserts with "sweet bean filling" (buns, taiyaki, manju, daifuku, etc.) show up now & then, and to most westerners the idea of beans as dessert is pretty odd (actually quite delicious, though).

Not sure if I've seen natto in anime/manga or just in dorama, but that's some freaky stuff - fermented soybeans that get all slimy & stringy. 🤢 Looks utterly disgusting to me, but some people really love it.

Squid ink curry...from "Addicted to Curry". Squid ink to me is just weird and not something I would think of as food.

Roast Lizard from Claymore. 😛 I'll assume it tastes like roast gator or rattle snake....chicken.

Quote from lakesurface

what is fermented ?

Left to age....like cheese and wine. Bacteria changes the chemicals in the food.

oh wait i just remember: in nekojiru the cats have this monkey friend who works in a restaurant. and one day they go there and then

they order the monkey. and they can hit him on the head. and after that cut off the bumps and eat those.

now that is weird food. i dunno if that is based on real traditional food..
