What's up with that weird juice that girl in sola keeps kicking out of the machine? Tomato something...
🤣 I don't remember what it's called (if someone does remember, please help me out here), but I thought it was very strange...
Hahah... I think it was just tomato juice... or something similar to V8 for us... haha... but think about it... tomato juice in a box... that's gotta be yuckyy.. 😀 😳

Some anime or another contained the characters putting sugar or mayo on their natto - I think it was Rahxephon?
Yes it was. As I remember, the other characters thought that adding sugar to natto was disgusting.
I tried natto twice (just to be sure). It smells weird but I'm used to smelly cheeses so I didn't mind, the taste was rather bland (I tried adding lots and lots of seasonning but it still had a bland taste, it's a mystery to me) but this slimy, sticky consistency was just too much.
Maybe I should try it again with sugar?

Well, for a cooking manga, Yakitate! Japan is hilarious. I haven't tried to make any of the recipes, but they do bake up some rather odd creations. 🤣
Addicted to Curry is also a lot of fun, but again I haven't tried to make any of the dishes.
I tend to stay away from trying out recipes from manga, simply because I have no idea if the translators have a clue how to cook or not...so the recipe could be totally messed up (baking soda instead of baking powder, tablespoons instead of teaspoons, etc). If there's something in a manga/anime/dorama that looks tasty, I generally go online & find recipes people have posted and then try those out.

Hmm, I do believe the cultures for yogurt are bacteria - lactobacilli and some other ones, not yeast. Yeast is used in bread (although sourdough gets its tang from lactobacilli fermentation in addition to the yeast). Lactobacilli are beneficial for our digestive systems (actually they are good for elsewhere on some bodies, but I am not going into that!)
I think natto is pretty strange - never tried it though. I remember seeing some documentary where a Japanese farmer put soybeans in I think a straw covering, dug a hole in the ground, smoked the stuff, and then buried it. Then he ate it a few days later.

Yep they say eating lots of yogurt can help you live to a hundred but that is provided you do all the other stuff like exercise and eath healthy foods. 🙂 Finally someone else who called them lactic "cultures" 😛

basically you imply that you dont trust the translaters. that sounds kinda dubious.
but then again. you shouldnt trust mangaka for their cooking skills either. or sites.
dont want to create distrust, just saying we should do trust. and try everything they tell us. 😀

Heh...I would say, rather, that I don't necessarily trust the translator's cooking skills.
😛

Yeah 🤣
I'd try it, but I'd probably be a bit hesitant...

Anyone read/watched Prince of Tennis 😕
Two words: Inui juice.
In all honesty, I don't even want to know if they're even plausible to make, however, I find them to be some of the oddest juices ever. And even a bit frightening.
