That IQTest site returned 160. I remember using that site before, and it had given me around 163-165. -_-;

I have no idea what mine is, but IQ is not really relevant anymore if you ask me. IQ tests just test how well someone is at being able to interpret information and see patterns and then use that knowledge to solve puzzles, which is a good skill but with technology these days I can Google just about anything and find out how how to do it or the answer. To me all an IQ is is a number that you can brag about and sound pretentious talking about. Also, not that it really matters or anything, but there is no way that this many people have IQ's of 150-170. It is insane that half of the people on this website are geniuses,not that anyone here is stupid or anything but just saying.

actually those sites seem to use to old standart mental age/actual age x 100. but since the general intelect raises with the generations the mankind becomes smarter and the formula isn´t correct anymore. also the iq 100 is placed at the iq which is the most common. people who did an iq test 80 years earlier would have had a lower iq if they did a test after the modern standarts.

You've gotta love how people who feel excluded in some way from society act like it somehow magically makes them more intelligent (this tends to be the case for anyone with slightly geeky hobbies, manga being an obvious inclusion).

Oftentimes it just means that you're awkward, not necessarily ugly, but definitely awkward. Doesn't seem to have much bearing beyond that.

That's not entirely accurate. Mental age/actual age x100 doesn't work for people like myself who are significantly older than 20 years old.

For adults, scores are given by standard deviations. You're graded on a curve.

The general increase of intellect is referred to as the Flynn Effect, and it doesn't apply uniformly across countries. I'm fairly sure that it's mostly the underdeveloped/developing countries that are showing the greatest signs of improvement.

The results are dubious, of course.

However, I actually find it believable that most scores displayed online will be higher than average. 120+ average scores being boasted by different forums shouldn't be rare. Some factors to take into consideration:

1. People on these forums tend to be nerdy and enjoy things like... reading/writing over more passive forms of entertainment. I.E. reality TV, etc.
2. They volunteered to take an IQ test just to test themselves for fun. They felt confident enough in their own intellect, and might actually find enjoyment in these things.
3. There's a survey bias/response bias from the possibility that people with higher scores are more likely input their results and/or post them.
4. Those are 70+ votes out of tens of thousands of MU users, and maybe thousands of active MU posters. One in every 400-700 people have IQ 145+, so it's not a big deal.
5. Communication skills don't exactly have the strongest correlation with IQ. My brother has an IQ of 170, 2350 SAT, GPA 4.9 in HS, GPA 4.0 in college, Double Majoring in the two hardest major at a top ranked university. His communication skills are inferior to mine, and mine aren't anything to brag about. 😐 A lot of people with high IQ are socially awkward in fact. I think he just thinks too quickly and doesn't bother to explain his line of reasoning to people or wait for people to keep up with him.

Of course, since communication skills are more important than most technical skills in corporate American, high IQ doesn't necessarily translate into high income. Also taking into acct the fact that a lot of people claiming to have high IQ also admit to being lazy, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of us here are merely shut-in geniuses.

I only done it once 10 years ago in my high school, and I don't really believe in IQ test considering that I got 126 just by randomly pick answer, because I just wanted to finish it asap, and go home XD, most of my friend got between 110-128.
