I took an IQ test a long time ago and got around 180 but I don't put much faith in these tests. You can't really call someone a genius because of some random questions on a piece of paper.
I believe everyone is intelligent in their own way. One person may be really knowledgeable at making dresses whereas another person could be really skilled at fixing cars. Each person is good at their respective careers so I would consider them to be geniuses in their own right.

an iq test does not claim to test your skill but your reasoning. being able to reason and think better than most does not mean you can knit a wedding gown but it does mean you are a genius and genius is defined as someone who can reason and think better than most not someone who makes a great cup coffee or someone who can spit the farthest distance

But reasoning comes in many different forms so a simple IQ test wouldn't really be an accurate gauge of reasoning abilities.

to the best of my knowledge analytical and mathematical reasoning do not come in many different forms.
an iq test may not be the best way to measure your reasoning ability but it is still a valid way

i agree with eblees
ofcourse the test isnt 100% accurate but it does give you an idea about how intelligent you are
bare in mind that it takes gender, age and other things into account so it can be fairly accurate given the right information and serious thinking
plus it tests many aspects of reasoning...it doesnt only focus on maths or a specific subject...you get all types of questions

I've never actually taken an IQ test and would fear the concrete evidence of my own stupidity 😛 I did notice that two of the linked tests/quizzes that I clicked on here misspelled Practice as Practise and Measured as Misured, one these being the Mensa quiz. I double checked with Microsoft Word (and am double checking this post for any misspellings... because wouldn't that look dumb). 🤢
Crap. Found and fixed two of my own. Make that three.

I always end up ranking in the 130-140 when taking an IQ test, but somehow it never seems quite right. I get the feeling that no matter what website you got it from, even a medical one, it can not be accurate. In my mind the only ones that can come even close to accuracy may be government-made ones...

i don't know my IQ 😛
but for that mensa test i got 16 out of 30, probably i would've gotten more but around 20th question i got bored and simply skipped all those who had things with words and stuff since i'm not native English & it would only crack my brain, but i think it's not bad considering how lazy i am ^^ got half right while abandoning whole third 😀
later when i wont be so lazy i'll try some tests, for example like this guy's too:

Alrighty. I just finished taking this test, and it says I got
Number of right answers= 56 (out of 60)
Your Intelligence Quotient in this test at least.. IQ= 128
So yup...what ever the hell that means.
I also took the mensa practice test and got 7 out of 12 although I found the test difficult. Maybe I'd do better if I weren't stoned and super tired. lol But I doubt it. 😉
or some others, so for now i'm not gonna vote since i don't really know 😮

There's no way the results should be scored like this. Internet IQ tests are NOTHING like real IQ tests. I've been tested for my IQ at an actual facility that conducts IQ tests and scored 135. Almost every online test I've done I've scored between 145-165. The average IQ is 100. I do not believe that MU users are "miraculously" all above average.
Even if you do take a real IQ test, the higher your IQ is, the higher the margin of error is. This means that it is extremely difficult to test how "intelligent" you are if you have a high IQ. I believe this starts at 130. So someone that scores 135 like me could potentially have an IQ of 165 but due to the type of questions they ask in an IQ test you could be scored down or scored up based on chance of knowing a tidbit of information. One question that has always stuck out in my mind from my IQ test is "Who is Queen Elizabeth?". Honestly, I still have no idea. I've never had to take European history in high school or college and I've never seen the Elizabeth movies. I can also tell you that if I had any of those experiences I would be able to tell you who she was. So why should my IQ be marked down because I've never had this education? It has nothing to do with the way that I think, process, or analyze and I do not believe that knowing the answer to this question has anything to do with intelligence. Your memorization skills and whether or not you can retain the information you memorize is definitely a factor of intelligence but for honestly not knowing something because you've never had the education should not be a reason why I should be marked down for the question. Maybe I'm a little bitter because on one of the pattern recognition parts of the IQ test I scored 192 and on the Elizabeth question I scored like 119. So over the course of the IQ test I scored in super amazing genius range and also above average range. Most people do not score with that large of a distribution.
Part of why I don't believe in these online IQ tests (besides the fact that there are disclaimers EVERYWHERE) and the MU users who have posted the scores is because of Mensa, the "genuis" society. There is simply no way that this many people on MU are Mensa candidates.
To qualify for MENSA you need to be in the 98th percentile or top 2% of IQs. Depending on the type of official IQ test you take, the minimum IQ to qualify is as low as 130 or as high as 148. Check out the qualifying scores for most types of intelligence tests. At this link, there's also a section with standardized tests and scores that will qualify you for Mensa. How you score on standardized tests like the SAT or ACT more or less directly correlates to your IQ. So if you score in the 95th percentile you would potentially have an IQ that's in the 95th percentile (around 125). That should be taken with a grain of salt because you can study for these tests to boost your scores where as a traditional IQ test you come completely unprepared for.
In any case, success is determined by your self-motivation and self-discipline NOT by your IQ. So while it's kind of fun to compare and contrast your fake website IQ scores it's completely irrelevant to how well you do at life. Even someone with an IQ of 65 (mentally retarded range) can become more successful than someone with an IQ of 150 (genius range) with a combination of will power and luck.
