Most overrated bands

Well with the reaction most people have had to their new album, I cant really say they are overrated anymore since so many people dislike M2M. Personally I have to respect Linkin Park though, since they play the type of music they want to play, and not just what people want to hear.

@ahoaho: Not sure, but I think the "preteens" comment was more about the Jonas brothers than John Mayer. That's just judging from the preteen magazines my doctor keeps in her office. I don't think I've ever seen him mentioned, but the Jonas brothers - I've yet to find an issue that doesn't talk about them at least 50 MILLION TIMES! Let's just say I'm not exactly a fan, and leave it at that.

Im not sure you quite got what I was saying. I was basically saying that they arent overrated anymore because of the reaction of their fanbase to their new album. My other point was that at risk of loosing their overrated status (which is a good thing when you want to make money) they produced an album that fit their own personal tastes and styles more closely than their older works.

Well, I don't pay attention to their music, only to their fan base, which is much broader than most hard rock bands. I don't care too much for them at all. Also, the album could just be crap. Good bands do release crappy albums. I still think that they are overrated.

Like their demo cd, have you heard thattt?
Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Cradle of Filth, Children of Bodem, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, and Atreyu, are all overrated.

in my opinion, slipknot got a hole lot better on their 3rd album. yes, you can say it to be more commercial, but I always felt like there was something missing from some songs of the two first ones. And their first demos are in no way good, i've listened to them, i've actually enjoyed them and seing how things progressed to their full albuns. but the demos are bad, the recording quality is bad, the equalization and tones are nothing compared to the versions from the full albuns, and the musics were more ideas than music and badly balanced. the band itself probably thinks the demos are bad, since they probably only though of their own songs as finished and perfect when they released their true albuns.

Depeche Mode and the Cure are overrated? What makes you say that? 😕
On another note, Hoobastank (remember them?) was one of the most overrated bands I've ever heard. Their last big hit "The Reason," which almost everyone loved, sounded like something I could have written while taking a humongous dump. It was extremely trite and whiny. After that song, I listened to their other older songs again, and I just couldn't stand how uncreative they were. For every time the song was replayed over and over again on the airwaves, I felt like stabbing my ears. 🤢

We should all be ashamed for forgetting the king band of overratedness, Slipknot.
And while we're at it, prepares to be shot down Metallica. They're pretty good, but if I hear one more brat claiming they "invented rock" I'll put my nose in a glass and hope to drown.
...oh damn I just remembered: BAUHAUS!
Extremely boring and weird, and praised like sliced bread, not to mention overratedness in person. I don't care if they invented goth (or if they invented microplasmatic chips for that matter) but they're worse and even more overrated than Slipknot.
Atleast there still are people hating Slipknot but it seems everyone worships Bauhaus -_____-''
