Legalising guns has not done america any good with all the high school massacres that have happened in the past. To be honest people can't be trusts with firearms for defence or sport perposes only.

I am disappointed by this poll, how can the majority be so narrow-minded to think the idea of having a firearm should be illegal. Obviously there are many people in this world who shouldn't have guns, and the lengthy process in acquiring one weeds out a lot of those people... but the fact is whether it's legal or not, people will get their hands on them, so why make them illegal in the first place? 🙁

Just wanted to say, seeing as this topic started from the riots in England and someone saying the situation would be better if the citizens were permitted to be armed, if guns were legal in England then wouldn't this mob be armed as well?

Okay the amount of knowledge you have to have about making a garage exsplosive and mind you having these appliances I think is a lot harder to get a hold of than just going to a shop and buying a gun. Do you not agree?

This is where the whole argument gets pedantic. If guns were never invented there'd be firearm like restrictions on the next-most threatening weapon (look at Warring States era as well as modern Japan, Katana were/are illegal unless the right you go through the right channels/know the right people. Honestly guns are just the most recent evolution in a continually evolving threat/arms race where the idea is "I know X is illegal, so I don't want to use it, but the other guys might not think that way and they'll probably use X, so I will too."

95% of the time I don't even comment on threads like this since all it will turn into is a dog chasing its own tail where there is a lot of talk and no answers. I don't even know why I even chimed in in the first place...

Also whatever is going on in London has kind of gone over my head (focusing on College applications/manga) so this is just an off-the-cuff, over-arching, gun legalization vs. restriction opinion.
