Older Protagonists! (Over 40!)

So this is a weird request, huh? Considering that, compared to the protagonists I'm asking for, I'm barely out of my diapers. 😛
Thanks to the amazing Kizku, who recommended Ristorante Paradiso, I've become interested in older protagonists. No, not in that way. Um. >_>; Well, never mind.
Can anyone recommend to me a manga in which the main character or one of the main characters is over 40? Can be male or female.
No ecchi or hentai or pure smut, by the way - but any other genre's okay.
Some manga with older characters that I already know of (I'm lacking in older female protagonists, obviously):
Ristorante Paradiso
Gente
What Did You Eat Yesterday?
Adult's Problems
Samurai Commando

Well...
There's Naono Bohra. But it's all yaoi.
Pluto
I think 20th Century Boys get to that age.
Homunculus
Sanctuary I think... At some point~
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

Oh, yeah, Pluto! Definitely. Thanks for reminding me, lol - I only started on the first volume a while ago and then lost track of it... 🙂
But about Homunculus - isn't the main character 34 years old? I think. So that's under 40, I'm afraid...
Sanctuary sounds VERY interesting. Thank you!
Watermelon Ghost:
The grandpa cyborg one! OH MY GOD. I have to read that. I did a bit of digging around and it's this one you're talking about, am I right?
Harukana Machi-e - Not really sure but main character is at least in his thirties.

Tsuto, your recommendations are AWESOME and are exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. ENDLESS LOVE TO YOU, PAL. I'm especially thrilled about "Jigoro" because I loved "Yawara" and had no clue that there was another manga about her granddaddy! 😀
Btw, y'all wouldn't have any older female characters in mind, would you? So far, I've gotten quite a bit on the guys (not that I mind, lol), but I was wondering why there seems to be a relative shortage of older women in manga. Am I just imagining things? Because I've looked, seriously, and I'm having a hard time finding any.
Edit: Has anyone read this manga? Seems like it might have older women. Does it?

Ah, I've read All My Darling Daughters. The first story has an older female character in it, but she is not the protagonist. The protagonist is the daughter.
Oooku might have an older female protagonist. It is about a female shogun.

Wasn't there a really good series that fit this topic about a 20 something year old guy whose basically locked himself in his room and has become a total recluse. His father passes and he's left in the care of his father's lover, whose a lot younger. She eventually opens him up to the world and stuff. I know it's not 40+ protagonist, but he's not a high school kid so if anyone can remember the name, i'm sure you'd enjoy it quite bit.

@susumu99: That's Me-teru no Kimochi, but the characters are only in their 20s-30s.

Sosseres: At long last, a female lead!
I've got one of my own to add: Samurai Executioner. I think he's over 40, anyway. Am I wrong? 😕

I haven't read Samurai Executioner yet, but I've read the two other similar series by the Koike and Kojima (Lone Wolf and Cub, Path of the Assassin) and if those are anything to go by, the protagonist in SE will be middle-aged as well.
