I guess you find it on internet by google. can you post link here so we can see. Of course I will wait till you post pics here.

Well about Japan. I like Japan thanks to manga and anime so I wish to live there or at least visit Japan but my country is really bad one when it comes on money. low salary, goods are too expensive. If I wanted to buy good Inline skates it would take almost whole my salary for a month. well it is for example.

Anyway if you've got link post it here

No link = no proof = complete BS

You've yet to show us anything that could be considered solid evidence. All I can find on a Google search for "motorized skates" is regular inlines with a gas motor finagled to them in some fashion, this thread is about making something that, at least in a realistic fashion has the capabilities of Air Trek.

No, its not "LOL".

We have rules, and you need to follow them, whether you like it or not.

You've been warned.

You've only been here a few days, and you're already in trouble. Don't make it worse for yourself.

@Rikku: ATs don't exist in Japan. A good motorized bicycle might be able to top out at around 80 km/h. Since a motorized bike can barely reach that speed, how is a skate supposed to reach that speed when the motor is more than 5x smaller.

hi, im new
joined because of this topic....

could it be a idea if the motorized part doesn't do
the hole speed thing but
just improves your topspeed?
even that would be nice, if the "AT's" looked like normal 😛
and not like does bulky things i saw on the internet :S
http://www.tricrides.com/motosks_buy.htm

the full motorized AT without hearing the motor sound/ and still topspeed of that of cars. Is still a long way to go.

ps: Still wishing it will happen 😀

Not too sure if anyone is still following this or not but after reading through the ideas I thought that the use of magnets was the best. Not too sure if anyone actually thought out how it would work but heres a slight description for you. Have you ever seen a coil gun? It uses magnets to fire off ball bearings at high speeds. These ball bearings go in a straight line, imagine if this ball bearing was inside a wheel, stuck in place with a magnetic hoop at the top of the wheel. If you notice how a coil gun works, the more magnetic fields, "hoops" if you will, it passes through, the faster it goes. This would loop the ball bearing through the same magnet infinitely. There's the power source, simple enough. How do you control the strength of a magnet to determine speed? You don't. You use an electro-magnet and control the amount of electricity flowing around the metal object used to your said "electro-magnet". You'll need to store the battery in a place somewhere on the skates.. you can all determine for yourselves where that may be. Next is the control of the electricity... You can seperate the "shoe" part of the skate and the top of the wheels and put in a round cylinder in the very middle to be used as a focal point. Then put a control in that will increase the amount of electricity depending on how far foward the shoe leans. Magnetic plates between the "shoe" part of the skate and the wheel parts would be good as well as that way the natural state of the skates would be where the shoe was not tilted at all, but completely flat. Here's a crappy drawing, try to use your mind to understand and do a little research into what magnets can do and have been used to do.

Even with all this there are issues, but it's still one step closer. The issues left can be handled with time... and money. None of which I believe anyone here can spare. The best idea would be for someone to create a formal schematic and contact a venture capitalist company and throw the idea at them. You may not earn any money (or fame as venture capitalists usually take all of that) but we'd get what we originall wanted... a world with ATs ;-)

^^A coil gun type design would work great if the total mass was relatively small. However, the mass we need to accelerate is over a hundred times the size of the ball bearing, so we would need a ton of electricity. Unfortunately, that much electricity can't be stored inside of a "normal" sized skate or on a small backpack.

wow..rikku reminded me of my early days on MU/this thread.. triple posting and the warning lol. yeah.. it's not a lol material.. but kinda gave me nostalgic feelings ^ ^

back on topic.
the magnetic ideas sounds so promising, all of them.. except when we count in the mass into calculation

Yea I suppose I wasn't taking weight into consideration. But hey, you could have skates that moved all on their own! You could make them, send them down a street and screem "WATCH OUT! IT'S THE GHOST SKATER!" Anyways, it's too bad that idea won't work out, guess it's back to the hypothetical drawing board. If I ever come up with a bright idea I'll be sure to let you all know ;-)
