Btw why dun put a speed limiter.. like 30mph to 60mph
so at least it suit the beginner and Pro

http://www.onemanga.com/Air_Gear/125/06/

like there is a switch to change speed

Hi, i'm going to build an Airtrek....
1.) the problem with the transmission: I'm going to solve this with a, so called Harmonic-Drive-gearing, it has got a transmissin from 100:1, so if the engine runs with 3000U/min this is transmitted to 30 U/min... but what kind of engine is smal enough to fit in a rollerblade and strong enough to drive a person with about 30-50km/h? Anyone a good idea?
2.) How to change the speed: I think i'm going to fix a piezocristal-force-sensor and if you lay back your body there is more weight on it, with an in-build mechanism which changes, for example from 10 to 20km/h and so on...
but which kind of break would you build in?

(sorry for using km/h and so on but i am an austrian user/ingeneer ^^)

you should make slow down as pressure/weight reduces and have an emergency break (switch)

yeah, thx, i had an idea today, we build in 2 sensores, one in each axe, so if the proportion of the two sensores is smaler then 1 the electric engine turnes backwards and otherwise it turns forward,
and the break could be only a software-thing, because if you stop too fast i think the joints will break

just make sure it already accounts for the weight of the rider
put up pics if you get construction started

uhh post ideas on the at making forum please it would help if we had more people

we would make an in-build switch, and if you want to drive you can turn it on, for example, weight test, and then the sensores know how heavy you are, because if the software don't know this it would drife every time xD

@ImBZppl: please link the thread^^

Tsch screw what u think, if u use a system that derrives from a truck stops weighing thing, with a strong enough shock system you can get the lift and the speed, if the front wheel has a pressurized shock system that calculates the users weight and uses that to pick up speed, then to stop you just remove all, or most pressure from the ball of your foot, then to jump you bend your knees to build pressure on the shock and jump... This way you will be able to do tricks and acheive the speed wanted with a pressure system that of the airgear series

cant believe you couldnt think of that... thats how far you think to use others tech to build off ur own...
See you when they made... Jester kun from team silent night, look him up after they are made

as for engine design idk... but have it so that it reads the sensors in the pressure sensative shock... that should help yall alot...

Outer body = titanium/carbonfiber/fiberglass

Inner body = polymer/gel

Pressure switch, which can be used to change the amount of voltage applied to the motor so that you can accelerate at different rates, this would probably be at the heel or the toe area of the sole

Motor that is less or equal than 5cm, and powerfull enough to propel a human forward at 40-70km/h

Wheel that has air cushion in between the outer rims, this would provide most of the jumping power

this is all i can think of for now as i don't have the schematics, if anyone has one, i appreciate it if you can mail it to jonathancmz@hotmail.com so that i can study it

The best way to make a possible recirculating power supply with dc motors is to have 2 motors per wheel 2 wheels per individual AT unit itself as in whole or a pair of them, an AT can have 3 motors 2 wheels per foot/shoe the third motor can act as a power replenisher which sets on the back wheel with the motors axel resting with a bit a pressure to make adequate contact to the wheel which makes it spin sending electric power to a small transformer which in term recharges the battery.

Another thing is what was suggested before which was to have the battery pack isolated from the AT but that means running a good length of wire to it which that can cause problems with the maximum effiecent power usage of the battery cant forget Ohms Law. Other than that I can suggest we can still use dc electric brushless motors with a gear ratio system in the back of the AT just below the foot while also being above the back wheel.

I do agree with lightning about the freedom of going highspeed well hell on anything that is capable on going that fast.

And I just now come to realize the method behind the more you lean the faster you go Peizoelectric power put through a transformer to increase power. The more you lean it triggers a mechanism that osallates the crushing of peizoelectric quartz and the more you lean the more times and the faster it crushes it therefore more speed.

I am open to further suggestions changes certain criticism but not something that inhibits the flow of ideas in order to make this work. 😀 Srry for it being a kinda long post 😀

you'd probably need crazy crash protection to see it ever being used

Not if there were precautions put into place that effects the gear ratios to go different rates of speed or even a gear ratio box for beginners all the way to advanced/pro. The gear box itself is quite customizable to an extent.

still figuring out how to put some of the functions inside the wheels it is possible just a method of tinkering will do the job.

And there will always be an experimental gear box that will be capable of going about 100 or so MPH but then again with gradual increase in acceleration of course that is a major precaution to limit the g force impact from going from 0 say to like 60mph in a matter of a second or 2..

Edited June 21, 2008 ~4:23 PM EST:
I figured out how to make the wheels have motors inside them, stationary axel and the wheel with bearings in the center of the wheel have 2 separate coils of enameled copper wire like in this picture

I believe from this image if we all analyze it good enough we all can find the correct method to build these ATs.
Or click this pictures direct link AT's Inside

I have been Lurking here for quite a while and you guy's have got some pretty good ideas. I have been using inline skates since I was 10 and so I have about 7 pairs of skates I don't use any more and due to the fact that I've come by some money I plan on doing some modding using a few of your ideas. Huzzah.
