To make the engine you need:

1. Circuit board from a bomb droid(military)
2. A chip for a car(anywhere)
3. A small turncoil(military)
4. A iron ball that will fit in the wheel(MAKE-HARD)

wheels:

1. Lot of gel to make the big wheels(MAKE-HARD)
2. Make sure u can put the engine inside the wheel

boots:you have to weld some parts together

1. I used snowboarding boots(works good)
2. 3 plates to make the buttom where you put the wheels(do it your own way)
3. Make sure you have magnets under the boot before the welding the other plates

what type of power core and be used? what about a chargeable lithium battery the kind that goes in ds and such

i came up with my own ...theory on how to build them
a AT has 4 basic parts
boot: what supports your foot
wheels:motion
motor: power
Energy Core: power motor
building the boot should be no problemthe way i see it you shud use a snow boot .....it has comfort just maybe use a few piece of metal around the heel the sole adn teh front of boot to give it firm support
next wheels.......using gel seems like a bad idea becausethe friction would wear away at them.......i think using something like skateboard wheels and it has to be whider then for the motor im working on how to do that the power core can be twin lithium ion power cells or a giant 24 volt like we use in my robotics club at school ( i can show u a pic next monday cuzz thats wen i go back to school)

No one has the "schematics" for a fictional item, especially one that is not feasible with current technology.
But if you like I can give you my lightsaber schematics and you can get your personal engineer to build you a lightsaber. 😐

getting a little off topic but if you look at the vid on eagles site you notice that the suspention is springs and one almost hydrolic looking device in the center of the boot between the front wheel and the back.

Hello, I am french (so excuse me if I have a bad english) and I am working on this project too. I already talk about that on french sites and I think that I have to show you my work too to bring ideas and maybe solutions, maybe I can help.
Well,first I worked on a similar project at school (to obtain my degree) but there was only one motor behind the right foot. There was a reductor with belt (that is not the case in the new ones). I never built the prototype but in theory it works. The system could climb a ten pourcent road and go from zero to fifteen Km/h in five seconds.
The max speed was forty Km/h but without take care of wind's frictions which is important so it's not the real max speed. I used the Axi 5320-20 motor (you can find it here: http://www.modelmotors.cz/ ) wich is a brushless outrunner motor. I think it's the best type of motor to make AT.

Well now I work (for the pleasure) on a system that is more closer than the AT. I put one motor in each wheel, without reductor because of place missing. So the system is not capable of running by imself, I mean that you have to give an impulsion before activate motors.
The motor activation and speed are controled by an handle you have in your hand.
This system use Axi 4120-20 motor wich is powerless than the 5320-20 but smaller. The problem is that I haven't the 4120-20 motor curves so I cannot calculate speed limits or things like that but in my opinion and with the results of my old project I think it will work.
Know there is another problem: the cost. Actually it cost around €1500 (I don't really know the price in dollars, maybe $1800). In fact it is not a probblem for every body but it's mine.

Of course it's not the final version, the electronic part (with cables an a component called controler) missed.
I have a litle problem with the assembly of two parts too but it's not a big deal.
Normaly the motor axis have to be cutting (it's too long to explain why I leave it in the 3D modelling ^^).

To finish, the motor used in these videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Sg_cojXZug&feature=related and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07FmvP23T2w&feature=related and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NazDiO1aarI ) is a brushless outrunner motor. We can see that because of the three cables wich go out of the wheel, the controler and the li-po battery.
So I am convinced that it's the right type of motor to use.

Listen I've been reading this form for a while and the only reason im here is to see the AT's become realty even if its been downgraded you guy are serious about this you've been going at this since 2007 and what i really want to know is have you made any progress on this idea its been on my mind ever since air gear first show and remember dont give up if you want more motivation just watch air gear one more time and I'm sure you'll see something that can help you have my support make it happen. 😀
