MAKING AIR TREK

^^ There's nothing wrong with your idea; I think it's more realistic. However, I believe that most people want to look "cool" and do all that stuff from the cartoon, so they want it to be as similar to the cartoon as possible.

I'm gonna explain something about copyright for you all, the name of the anime is copyrighted, that doesn't necessarily mean that everything in the anime is copyrighted, has anyone done any research to see if the name air trek is copyrighted? Usually it's just the plot and story line that are. And also, these aren't going to be legal, and they aren't going to be sold in stores, it'll never happen that way. this is something that everyone will have to build at home, so if you don't want a pressure sensor, u don't have to put one. if u don't want brakes, u don't need em. if u want to put a fucking motorcycle engine on your foot and catch your leg on fire, go right ahead, ill laugh my ass off when i read it in the paper. And finally if u cant imagine yourself customizing your own skate than your screwed that's all there is to it. The idea of mounting an engine on the skate will not work, if its electric, where would you put the batteries not to mention u would need 2 separate hand controls, if you try to grind, it would most likely interfere with the chain with makes it even more problematic than a pressure sensor for an in wheel motor. Make sure to think of all the angles on your ideas, sure my idea of pressure sensors and brake of very complicated, but there for my personal skates, they wont be on the prototypes, im just sharing my ideas for when you modify your own pair of skates.

so we gotta make them ourselves? what's the point of this thread then? unless you're gonna have a basic design which people can use to create an AT then customize it. is that what we are doing?

pretty much yeah im sure everyone here will share there designs and some might try to work together and make it a team effort, I could also see some people trying to take the ideas of others and selling them to a company that might like to take the project. But like i said, if that happens, the government will scramble to apply road laws and in the end most likely outlaw them. But if we were to keep this thread going even after we had a few working prototypes, we could start a private community with the goal of helping people who don't know to skate or build complicated technology like this, and if you want we could organize get togethers where we could have friendly competitions, make skating videos or even sell some of our personally designed AT's to newcomers. If we keep this friendliness going, we could keep this going without giving the government a chance to control it. Thats my outlook on it anyway, does anyone share this dream of mine? 😕 😎

I doubt ATs would be illegal if they could be made. At worst, they'd be regulated the same way other minor motor vehicles (motor bikes, motorized scooters, etc.) are, and that is only IF they became popular enough for it to concern lawmakers.
It would be nice if these skates became reality, but I think it is far more likely that they will not... at least not with high speeds and long range. I think it's safe to say that to make a cartoon-like skate, the only way would be for us to build a custom motor. Unless someone here builds the motor, it doesn't seem like it's worth discussing the trivial "icing on the cake" features like pressure control.

you really should keep up to date with the forum or even go back a couple pages and read from there, we already have a custom motor. 😀

Ok i see what you guys are trying too do but has any one made a motor thats small enough too fit into a wheel and have the power need too make an average person go around 40 mph and the battery is another concern of mine will it be able too fit into the skate and will it have enough power too keep a constant 40 mph for 4 hours at least abd if we are able too pull this project off i think we should sell them over the internet or something i would recomend tv its safer that way and we could start teams and hold compitions that way it could be more fun btw sorry for the spelling errors 😀

Hey, I've catching up in the conversation so far, an I can understand about making the AT's first. So, I've looking through the net for most of my lunch period, 🤣 , and I actually stumbled on this website. I mean, they look a bit weird of course. But hey, at least someone got close to actually MAKING the AT 🙂 . So, here it is:
Also, who here knows at least a little about welding? I think that'll help us a lot too 😃

no there completely cosmetic, those are only for cosplays and such there aren't any motors in em. I've seen a few pairs and they are relatively easy to make but the frame is made from sliding door frames. We could use them for the frame but nothing else. And to adamska954, 40mph is what we are aiming for but at this point i think we'll have to settle for around 30mph. But like i said this technology is quite new and is being improved on a daily basis. 🙂

I saw a claim about having a motor, but I don't think it will reach the speeds you want.

I'm not sure, i didn't see all the details but i think someone said it propelled the scooter to 12 mph with just that one motor, in the skates there will be 1 motor per skate so our speeds will improve, also im sure there is room for improvement on the motor. Either way it's a good starting point right?

@Jay3205
we have to figure out how to make it move before making it look cool...
I have a question for you are you one of those people who want it to be cool before fiuring out how to make it move or are you one of the people like me who thinks how to make it move first and making it cool later...
whats the point of being cool if you don't have the move??
and don't dream to run it to a wall like in the anime!!!!!
cause its impossible!!!!!!!!!we have to think for the motor first before the cushion thingy.........

wate so how fast does it need to go for the friction to be enough for us to ride up a wall? or are we gonna not even try that? also if someone does try it plz record it. watching someone ride straight into a wall sounds appealing 😛 unless its successful then you have my respect

Well, yeah they look like normal rollerblades. But how do we know EXACTLY what AT's look like? And I agree with McBlaise. Let's not even think about making them look cool until we're positive that they can move without too many problems, or none at all hopefully.
