@Fizzle Don't feel sad for me I have a lot of people who consider me their friend it's just I can't consider someone I knew for less than 5 years a friend. Those people are acquaintances to me. Just because I went for a drink with someone doesn't make them my friend all of a sudden! A friend is someone you would kill for in my mind. And I had only 3 people I considered worthy of that level of trust, unfortunately one of them passed away.

Friends come and they go. More than likely you will not have a friend your entire life. I had a best friend in 1st grade, he stole my Muscle Man toy and we had a fight and I nocked his tooth out. I had some friends last year, they drink too much and I don't drink so they don't like to hang out with me anymore. Friends are not something that lasts forever.

I've never been too close to my family, divorced parents and all that nonsense ^^ I have two or three friends that would go out of their way to help me, the rest I'm not sure I can really rely on, as much as that pains me xD
So between friends and love... meh... a lover can be a more extreme version of a friend? ;P

Now that I think about it, family is also built on love, a different kind of it. So add those votes to the "love" category and love wins. After all, I think that the ultimate necessity is love in general, not just of the romantic sort.

If I can't find a partner (no love), and if I can't find friends, my family is still here!

If my family dies though,... then.... 🤢 don't know.

The lover will eventually become family (once you start having kids together or just after living together for 20+ years)
Really close friends will eventually also get accepted as members of the family. Some of my friends are viewed by all my family as members of the family, and the same way some friends of my cousins are viewed by me as members of the family.
Family is the most important thing to me, and even if my relationship with some of them might not be the best. I know that when I will need them I'll be able to count on them. And they also know they will be able to count on me. (I know because it happened, I'm not a stupid optimist)

But as always this is a cultural thing... and even then, it doesn't work always so well for everyone.
On the other hand, even in the worst case scenario, I'd still think family is important:
@moritana and vinceasuma, when you are going to have kids (if you ever plan to) I think you'd probably love them and care for them more than anyone (unless you want them to have a fate similar to yours). And kids are the most basic form of family, but it still is family first in the end.
