I think it was mentioned before in the case of Urahara and Yourichi at least, that they essentially escaped Soul Society, and they are too powerful to try to capture, so they arent messed with unless they do something that would make them an actual danger to Soul Society.

I wouldnt go so far as to say that, but they both are likely strong enough to kill a captain or two before they go down, and since they arent really enemies of SS, there is no good reason to try to capture them when the potential losses would be so heavy. I would say that the same thing probably also applies to the Vizards as well.

As far as intelligence goes, I dont think Urahara is too much better than Mayuri, but I think that when it comes to being truly cunning, the upper hand definitely goes to Urahara.

Yes i think urahara is smarter, he created the hougyoku, of course with the help maybe of mayuri but i don't think mayuri knows all there is to know about hougyoku. Mayuri is crazy genius while urahara is a badass genius. Now for me i think badass genius wins. If how exponentially powerful , maybe the gap in their powers is not that wide as to say urahara is 100 % more powerful than mayuri at that time of the flashback, maybe 10 to 20% stronger. But who knows at the current time maybe their powers are at par with each other since urahara have been away from the front line of ss for 100 years.

Yoruichi probably couldnt also go back in human form thats why she transforms to a cat to go past the gate.

Mayuri did say that only Urahara has ever been able to figure out a way through Garaganta... plus Urahara was only head of R&D for like ten years and he invented that plus the Hougokyu, soul candy, his gigais, and who knows what else... from what we've seen all Mayuri's invented are his freakish self and Nemu, so seems to me like Urahara is quite a bit more intelligent and better at soul science. The question I'm asking is, if he could invent all this stuff in ten years, what the hell has he been doing for the last hundred?

In the first half Mayuri is made assistant director of the technological development bureau.

Next, the young Byakuya and Yoruichi seem involved in something together…(implies a relationship).

Ukitake talks to Kaien about a new member that appears to be a young prodigy.

Then we are taken to a scene where Gin kills the 5th divisions current 3rd seat in front of Aizen.

"Gin is a Shinigami even though he's still young. He graduated from the academy in a year.

The young Byakuya is somehow a different character than the present day one."

Ukitake: His age... That's right, Captain Kuchiki's grandson Byakuya-kun is there, right?
Kaien: Ah, the arrogant one.
Ukitake: Right, right. Is he the same age? Although he seems slightly younger...

It seems that their seats are being prepared at the same time as their enlistment.

There was no reason given in the story as to why Gin killed the 3rd seat. After seeing his true power Aizen is considering giving him an official seat cause he is really strong.

Personal Thoughts;

Wow, absolutely wow. =O So many characters in this chappie~ Gin is as heartless as ever. =D He's only a 'newbie' and still he defeated the 3rd Seat of the 5th Division. Seems he and Aizen go way back. Also the other half of the prodigy duo is Byakuya, who is apparantly the grandson of the 6th Division Captain, and he's also in the 13th Division. ... Wow, Ukitake was his captain too, just like with Rukia! D:

Plus, Mayuri is being recruited by Urahara it seems... and we're going to see everyone's favorite vice-captain, Kaien! :3 Seems he goes way back in Soul Society too.

Byakuya had a temper in this chapter. The old guy was his grand father.Yoruichi teased him and bickered with him. He mentioned how he's a heirr of the Kuchiki so he doesn't have time to play with her( I have to say this is very cute) Kaien was not a vice-captain. Ukitake had offered a position several times but he rejected it. Gin was a genius boy who Gotei 13 already considering making him a seated officer. However, Aizen made him kill the 3rd seat. Seem like there were rumors of how great Gin was and Aizen wanted to see it for himself. Gin said the 3rd seat was nothing and it wasn't a big deal. Aizen was very pleased to hear that.
