Im looking for any manga where the main plot of the story revolved around Catholic religion. Something where characters are named after angels like Michael or someone called Lucifer. It could even involved people controlled or is a true believer in either.

Chrno Crusade? It has demons and the church that fights them. A couple names come up.

Haha, you can try Shiharu Genesis. You know, I haven't seen a lot of manga series with Catholicism in them except, you know, those smut titles with the priests. 😐 Err, I don't really care for those, so I've blocked them out of my mind.

No one mentioned 666 Satan? (Doesn't deal with the Catholic church, but most of the people have angel/devil alter-egos that go by the same name as those in the catholic religion .)

I tend to stay away from yaoi but thanks.

This was actually the first Manga I ever read online. It was good and everything all they way to the end. It could have ended better.

Devil Devil has this, although the main characters aren't really named after famous Biblical characters (I'm pretty sure there is an angel named Michael though).

Yes, I was thinking the same thing when I saw the word Catholic.

I think Shaman King could be another choice, the plot have different religious themes in it. (It didn't say so, but when you actually think of it, you will be able to assign different religions to the fighting teams). There was one group called X-laws which used spirits with names like Michael, Lucifer etc. I really like the manga but the ending was a bit o_O fortunately they're going to remake it with new ending.

Akuma na Eros
If you don't mind the smut that is

D Gray Man has something to do with the Vatican. I don't think it's what you're looking for though...

Shina Dark's main character is Lucifer/Satan. Again, don't think it's what you're looking for.

How about Meteor Methuselah. The story has catholicism come into play after the plot line gets moving, but in no way does it feel like an afterthought. There is a lot of about immortality, loving/hating humanity, and the sins of human nature.
