Description
From ADV:
America in the Roaring 20s. On the surface, it's a positive, peaceful time after the violence of the Great War. But lurking in the shadows is a dark element ready to snatch that peace away. Sister Rosette Christopher, an exorcist working as a part of the Magdala Order, has a duty to fight the demons which appear and cause destruction.
But along with her companion Chrno, she usually ends up causing more destruction than the demons themselves! On one particular mission, they meet a young girl with a beautiful voice named Azmaria, who is being targeted by her own stepfather. As Rosette and Chrno work to save her, more is revealed about the relationship between them. There is more to these two than meets the eye.

This manga brought tears to my eyes more than once. It was very deep, complex, and just plain un-simple. The emotions felt very real to me, real enough that I'd cry tears of sadness at the happy parts and tears of joy at the sad parts. And I don't cry unless something really gets to me.
I'm not gonna say the basic plot idea is ingenious or anything. I mean, a demon who's in love with a nun. A chick who's life is slowly being sucked away. Yeah, sure, heard it all before. But it's presented in a very amazing manner. Thinking about it, there's enough drama and angst to make it seem like a rather dark story, but it still seems to me light-hearted. I think it's the lovely blend of the two that give this manga it's charm. Not to mention, I don't think any of the characters were two dimensional! Yay! Heehee, but yes, I definitely recommend this read. But not if you can't stand sad things. But I do promise, it's worth it all the same.

this one was just about perfect...Rosette wasn't sappy or wishy washy, a very strong lead....and Chrono...wow...big or small he managed to convey that "tormented soul" feel...the end was bittersweet....but it fit so well i couldn't be mad at it it was just so right...i really want to know a bit more about Chrono's past, too. also the romance wasn't too heavy but not to light either...it was believable! and in the end everything came together beautifully...

actually i couldn't read the manga anymore after a few chapters because of the characters. Art was mediocre, nothing special and I wasn't far enough for any great or thrilling story to see.
now, i wonder why now, i've read that a character dies. And I acutally feel the urge to pick up the manga again....!
Btw, I'm not rating this series yet. I haven't read enough and I won't give just 3 or 4 points because of personal tastes. |

I just read this manga out of curiosity because lot of people said this manga is "must read" so, I'll give it a try. I read it randomly because I just want to see the romance between this two main character.
Starting from that, I try to reverse and start reading from the beginning. Quite nice. The character have unique identity.
The art nice - the way Shounen Genre should be of course
I love the romance. Love it. Not sappy and cheap kind of love. It's fragile and the way Rosette were going to death train breaking the heart actually. She seems devouring somebody - Chrno.
By the way, Chrno preety interesting character actually. Even though he looks all manly in his real form he looks childish and blushing all the times when Rosette tease him in chibi form. Aren't he cute?
The ending. Oh.. great. Have mercy on me please. Spoiler (highlight to view) It sooo sad. But somehow, beautiful and very pure ending not something cliff hanger actually. Oh Rosette.. may you in peace.
Gonna watch the anime! How about hear their voice in anime? <33

While reading this, you may get a sense that you've read something like this before. The ideas are not the most original and, while it is a pleasant read for the first few volumes, there's nothing here to make you think "This is one of the best mangas I've ever read".
The reason I put my rating higher than average is purely because of the development of the relationship between the characters. I wanted to cry at the end but sadly my tear ducts have dried up after having watched too many Korean dramas. The good stuff only happens very late in the series, which is why I decided to sell my Chrono Crusade collection on as it's probably not one I'd read again, as much as I found the ending satisfying. This is one I would say to read if you have time.

the art = good!
the story = good
the characters = good
i personally like the setting. well,i like something classic especially the environment design in this manga. something that can leave a deep impression.
really when the 1st time i read this manga,
i thought it would end just like another fantasy shounen manga.
but when i reached the ending, i realized it's much more deeper than i thought!
i thought since it's a fantasy manga, something magical would prevent "it" to happen. but my prediction was wrong.
the ending really made me feel hurt and happy at the same time. sad yet beautiful. it left a very deep impression inside my heart. i wanted to cry but i couldn't.

This manga is one of the best ever.
The story might seem classic, but the more you read, the more you see that this manga is extremely deep. The main characters are wonderful and actually pretty original, Rosette is the best female main character I've ever seen in a manga. And as we all should know: Daisuke Moriyama = incredible art, seriously he is extremely skilled,
There's no reason why this manga shouldn't get a high rating.

Plotwise it was well diversified and had good develpment.... with a somewhat satifying ending...bittersweet it maybe....

Overall is a good (meaning above the average) manga. The artowrk is nice and well done. Since this is a shounen series, expecting a masterpiece of plot or supra original characters is unreasonable... and so the plot is just fine, becoming more interesting when knowing about the past of the characters; and overall the pace of the story is good enough to keep you interested. The characters are well depicted but beside Chrno and Rossette there is basically no other character well developed.
Finally what made me give this manga an 8 and not 7 is the ending. Simply it was touching (in a bittersweet way) and it is of the very few manga/anime where all this love-wise scenes between the (main) characters are well justified to give a very satifastory ending.
